They will say: "We bear witness against ourselves." It was the life of this world that deceived them. And they will bear witness against themselves that they were disbelievers.

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 130) ➊ { يٰمَعْشَرَ الْجِنِّ وَ الْاِنْسِ اَلَمْ يَاْتِكُمْ رُسُلٌ مِّنْكُمْ:} "Messengers from among you" means that the Messengers have been humans from among jinn and mankind. For whether angels or humans are the most virtuous creation, see Surah Yusuf (109) and Surah Furqan (20). The prophethood of jinn is not established; the majority of scholars, both early and later, hold the view that no jinn was made a Messenger. However, there have been many warners among them, meaning those who warned their own people, who, after believing in the Messengers sent to humans, conveyed the message to their own people. See Surah Ahqaf (29 to 32) and Surah Jinn. In both, the jinn have acknowledged their belief in the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and invited their people to believe. In fact, from Surah Ahqaf it is understood that those jinn previously believed in Musa (peace be upon him).

{ اَنَّهُمْ كَانُوْا كٰفِرِيْنَ:} Shah Abdul Qadir (may Allah have mercy on him) writes that in this Surah, it was mentioned above that at first, the disbelievers will deny their disbelief, then Allah the Exalted will, through His planning, make them admit it. (Muwadhih) See Surah An'am (23 and 27 to 30), Surah Ha Mim Sajdah (20, 21), and Surah Ya-Sin (65).

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

130. 1. In the matter of conveyors of the messengers' messagehip and prophethood, the jinn are subordinate to humans; otherwise, no separate prophet has come among the jinn. However, there have been conveyors of the messengers' message and warners among the jinn who have conveyed the message of the conveyors of the messengers' message to their own community of jinn and continue to do so. But there is also the view that since the existence of jinn predates that of humans, a prophet from among them may have come for their guidance, and after the creation of Adam (عليه السلام), they may have become subordinate to human prophets. However, the prophethood of the Noble Prophet ﷺ is undoubtedly for all jinn and humans; there is no doubt about this.

130. 2. In the field of resurrection, the disbelievers will adopt various tactics; sometimes they will deny being polytheists (al-An'am, 123), and at other times, they will have no choice but to confess, as their confession is mentioned here.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

130. Then Allah will say to them, "O assembly of jinn and mankind! Did there not come to you messengers from among yourselves, reciting My verses to you and warning you of the meeting of this Day [138]?" They will say, "Yes, we bear witness against ourselves." The life of this world deceived them, and they will bear witness against themselves that they were indeed disbelievers in the signs of Allah.

The Chain of Prophethood is Now Only Among Humans:

Before humans, only jinn inhabited this earth, and it is reasonable to assume that messengers were sent among them as well. But after humans settled on earth, the chain of prophethood became exclusive to humans. The messenger who is sent for humans is also sent for the jinn. The reason messengers come from among humans is that humans are the noblest of all creatures, not the jinn. And the jinn can benefit from the messenger because the messenger is a human who cannot change his form. But if the messenger were from among the jinn, humans would not be able to benefit from him. Thus, it is established from two places in the Quran that the Messenger of Allah is also a messenger for the jinn. It is mentioned in Surah Ahqaf and also in Surah Jinn.
