Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 129){ وَكَذٰلِكَنُوَلِّيْبَعْضَالظّٰلِمِيْنَبَعْضًۢا …… : } That is, just as We made some of the jinn and some humans friends of each other, in the same way We make the wrongdoers and the sinful and immoral people friends of each other because of their deeds, as seen in Surah At-Tawbah (67, 71). Another translation could be that in the same way (in the Hereafter) We will make the wrongdoers companions of each other, just as they were companions and helpers of each other in committing sins in the world, so too will they share in the punishment of the Hereafter. Some have interpreted {’’ نُوَلِّيْ ‘‘ } to mean that We make some of the wrongdoers rulers and authorities over others, just as We made some of the jinn and humans dominant over others, in the same way in the world We also make the wrongdoers dominant over each other, so the oppressor oppresses the subordinate and the weak endure the oppression of the strong, but the context of the verses and the words { ’’ اَوْلِيٰٓؤُهُمْمِّنَالْاِنْسِ ‘‘} here do not quite fit with the meaning of ruler.

129. 1. That is, in Hell, as is clear from the translation. The second meaning is that just as We have made humans and jinn companions and helpers of one another, similarly We deal with the wrongdoers: We set one wrongdoer over another wrongdoer, so that one wrongdoer destroys and annihilates the other, and We take retribution from one wrongdoer through another wrongdoer.
