لِلْفُقَرَآءِ ٱلْمُهَـٰجِرِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُخْرِجُوا۟ مِن دِيَـٰرِهِمْ وَأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ يَبْتَغُونَ فَضْلًا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرِضْوَٰنًا وَيَنصُرُونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلصَّـٰدِقُونَ ﴿8﴾
(And there is also a share in this booty) for the poor emigrants, who were expelled from their homes and their property, seeking Bounties from Allâh and to please Him, and helping Allâh (i.e. helping His religion) and His Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم). Such are indeed the truthful (to what they say).
لِلْفُقَرَآءِ lil'fuqarāi For the poor
ٱلْمُهَـٰجِرِينَ l-muhājirīna emigrants
ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna those who
أُخْرِجُوا۟ ukh'rijū were expelled
مِن min from
دِيَـٰرِهِمْ diyārihim their homes
وَأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ wa-amwālihim and their properties
يَبْتَغُونَ yabtaghūna seeking
فَضْلًۭا faḍlan bounty
مِّنَ mina from
ٱللَّهِ l-lahi Allah
وَرِضْوَٰنًۭا wariḍ'wānan and pleasure
وَيَنصُرُونَ wayanṣurūna and helping
ٱللَّهَ l-laha Allah
وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ ۚ warasūlahu and His Messenger
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ulāika Those
هُمُ humu they
ٱلصَّـٰدِقُونَ l-ṣādiqūna (are) the truthful

(Ayah 8) ➊ { لِلْفُقَرَآءِ :} This is a substitute for {’’ وَ لِذِي الْقُرْبٰى وَ الْيَتٰمٰى وَ الْمَسٰكِيْنِ وَ ابْنِ السَّبِيْلِ ‘‘} mentioned in the previous verse. It is as if it is being said that by these four are meant the poor emigrants, and the Ansar, and those who come after them who follow in their footsteps, love them, and pray for them.
{ الْمُهٰجِرِيْنَ الَّذِيْنَ اُخْرِجُوْا مِنْ دِيَارِهِمْ وَ اَمْوَالِهِمْ :} That is, they are not only poor but also emigrants. By them are meant those people who, at that time, were expelled from Makkah and other parts of Arabia solely for the crime of accepting Islam. These people had homes and properties in their homeland, but now they were empty-handed; they had neither houses to live in nor wealth for their needs. Before the conquest of the territory of Banu Nadir, there was no permanent arrangement for their residence and livelihood. The Ansar had accommodated them in their own homes and had also made them partners in the income from their orchards and lands. In this verse, it is stated that these people are entitled to the wealth of fay, so that they can stand on their own feet. Accordingly, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), with the consultation of the Ansar, distributed the orchards and lands of Banu Nadir among the poor emigrants, and the lands and orchards that the Ansar had given to them were returned to the Ansar. Only two Ansar were given something from these properties. This does not mean that only the emigrants of that time had a share in the wealth of fay, but until the Day of Judgment, it is the duty of Muslim countries to provide shelter and enable those who are expelled from their country for being Muslim to stand on their own feet. For this, in addition to zakat, the wealth of fay will also be spent.
{ يَبْتَغُوْنَ فَضْلًا مِّنَ اللّٰهِ وَ رِضْوَانًا :} That is, their purpose in emigrating was not any worldly thing, but they emigrated solely in search of Allah’s bounty, that is, Paradise, and His pleasure, which Allah Almighty has promised to the believers. { وَ يَنْصُرُوْنَ اللّٰهَ وَ رَسُوْلَهٗ :} And they help Allah and His Messenger, that is, His religion, with their lives and wealth.
{ اُولٰٓىِٕكَ هُمُ الصّٰدِقُوْنَ :} That is, these are the people who have proven the truthfulness of their words with their actions. In this verse, Allah Almighty has testified to the truthfulness of the emigrants, and in the next verse, He has also testified to the {’’ الْمُفْلِحُوْنَ ‘‘} of the Ansar. In Surah Al-Anfal, regarding both, it is said: « اُولٰٓىِٕكَ هُمُ الْمُؤْمِنُوْنَ حَقًّا » [ الأنفال : ۷۳ ] “They are the true believers.” Now, who can be more unjust than the one who doubts their truthfulness or faith, or speaks ill of them!?

8. 1. In this, one of the most authentic uses of the wealth of Fay’ has been stated. Along with this, the virtue of the Muhajirin, their sincerity, and their uprightness have been clarified, after which doubting their faith is, in effect, a denial of the Quran.

(It is also) for the poor emigrants who were expelled from their homes [10] and their properties, seeking Allah’s bounty and pleasure, and supporting Allah and His Messenger. They are the truthful ones.

The Share of the Needy and the Emigrants in the Wealth of Fay':

In the distribution of the wealth of Fay', first the general mention of the needy was made. After that, especially those needy emigrants were mentioned who, solely for the sake of Islam and the pleasure of Allah, left behind their homes, wealth, and properties and came to Madinah. At that time, there seemed to be no solution for their settlement and livelihood here. When they claimed faith, they proved it practically. And at all times, they are ready to help the religion of Allah. Such needy people are more deserving of the wealth of Fay' than the general needy.
