Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

40. And many from the later generations [22].

[22] That is, among the Muqarrabeen, there will be more from the former generations and fewer from the later ones, while among the Companions of the Right, there will be many from both the former and the later generations. Thus, Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id Khudri ؓ says that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “I hope that you people will be a quarter of all the inhabitants of Paradise (and the remaining three-quarters will be from the rest of the communities).” Upon hearing this, we said Allahu Akbar (expressing gratitude to Allah). Then he ﷺ said: “No, you will be a third.” We again said takbeer. Then he said: “No, rather you will be half.” We again said takbeer. [بخاري، كتاب التفسير۔ تفسير سورة حج۔ وتري الناس سكٰرٰي]
