Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: [ يَارَسُوْلَاللّٰهِ ! You have grown old." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Hud, Waqi'ah, Mursalat, Naba, and Takwir have made me old."
Many people recite Surah Al-Waqi'ah daily because of the hadith narrated from Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: [ مَنْقَرَأَسُوْرَةَالْوَاقِعَةِكُلَّلَيْلَةٍلَمْتُصِبْهُفَاقَةٌأَبَدًا ] "Whoever recites Surah Al-Waqi'ah every night will never suffer from poverty." However, no such hadith is proven from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Shaykh Nasiruddin Al-Albani (may Allah have mercy on him) has explained the weakness of all such narrations in "Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Da'ifah wal-Mawdu'ah (No: 289 to 291)."
(Ayah 1) { اِذَاوَقَعَتِالْوَاقِعَةُ: ’’ الْوَاقِعَةُ ‘‘} is one of the names of the Day of Judgment, just as {’’ الطَّاۤمَّةُ ، الْاٰزِفَةِ ، الصَّاخَّةُ ‘‘} and {’’ الْقَارِعَةُ ‘‘} are its names. In these, the "taa" is for emphasis. Its name {’’ الْوَاقِعَةُ ‘‘} is due to its certainty, because it will definitely occur in every circumstance. That is, when the Day of Judgment is established, as in Surah Al-Haqqah: « فَاِذَانُفِخَفِيالصُّوْرِنَفْخَةٌوَّاحِدَةٌ (13) وَّحُمِلَتِالْاَرْضُوَالْجِبَالُفَدُكَّتَادَكَّةًوَّاحِدَةً (14) فَيَوْمَىِٕذٍوَّقَعَتِالْوَاقِعَةُ »[ الحاقۃ : ۱۳ تا ۱۵ ] "So when the Trumpet is blown, a single blast. And the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow. Then, on that Day, the Event will occur."
