Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 78) {تَبٰرَكَاسْمُرَبِّكَذِيالْجَلٰلِوَالْاِكْرَامِ:’’ تَبٰرَكَ ‘‘} is from the form "tafā‘ul"; when mutual participation is not intended in it, then emphasis is meant, that is, very blessed is the name of your Lord. Then when His name is so blessed, how blessed will His pure essence be. Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the prayer, he would seek forgiveness three times and say: [ اَللّٰهُمَّأَنْتَالسَّلَامُوَمِنْكَالسَّلاَمُتَبَارَكْتَيَاذَاالْجَلاَلِوَالإِْكْرَامِ ][ مسلم، المساجد، باب استحباب الذکر بعد الصلاۃ …:۵۹۱ ] "O Allah! You are Peace and from You is peace, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor!" In this supplication, many people add these words: {’’ وَإِلَيْكَيُرْجَعُالسَّلاَمُحَيِّنَارَبَّنَابِالسَّلاَمِوَأَدْخِلْنَادَارَالسَّلاَمِ ۔‘‘} These words are not established from the hadith. {’’ ذِيالْجَلٰلِوَالْاِكْرَامِ ‘‘} is such a blessed name of Allah that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) emphasized reciting it abundantly. Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: [ أَلِظُّوْابِيَاذَاالْجَلاَلِوَالإِْكْرَامِ ][ ترمذي، الدعوات، باب : ۳۵۲۴، وقال الألباني صحیح ] "Hold fast to {’’ يَاذَاالْجَلَالِوَالإِْكْرَامِ ‘‘}, adhere to it." {’’أَلِظُّوْا‘‘ ’’أَلَظَّيُلِظُّإِلْظَاظًا‘‘} is from a source whose meaning is "to cling." The command of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to adhere to it shows how blessed this name is.
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
78. 1. تَبَارَکَ is from "barakah," which means permanence and stability. The meaning is that His name is everlasting, or that He possesses everlasting treasures of goodness. Some have interpreted it as meaning loftiness and exalted status. And when His name is so blessed, meaning full of goodness and loftiness, then how blessed, magnificent, and exalted must His essence be.
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
78. Blessed is the name of your Lord, full of majesty and honor [47].
[47] The personal name of the Lord is Allah, and Rahman is both a personal and an attributive name. All the other names of Allah are attributive. Among them, Dhul-Jalal wal-Ikram is a very blessed attributive name. That is, Allah Himself is full of greatness and honor, and He is the one who grants honor to others and bestows kindness and favor upon them. As mentioned in these verses regarding His kindness and favor upon the people of Paradise, then when His name itself is so blessed, how blessed must His sacred essence be! And it is mentioned in the hadith that after every prayer, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would first say Allahu Akbar, then say Astaghfirullah three times. After that, he would recite this dhikr: ﴿اللّٰھُمَّأنْتَالسَّلاَمُوَمِنْکَالسَّلاَمُتَبَارَکْتَیَاذَالْجَلاَلِوَالاِکْرَام﴾[مسلم، کتاب المساجد ومواضع الصلوٰۃ، باب استحباب الذکر بعد الصلوۃ و بیان صفۃ]
