➋ { وَ وَضَعَ الْمِيْزَانَ: ’’ الْمِيْزَانَ ‘‘ ’’وَزَنَ‘‘} is on the pattern of {’’مِفْعَالٌ‘‘}, which is originally {’’مِوْزَانٌ‘‘}, meaning an instrument of measurement. "Weight" refers to the estimation of things being equal, less, or more in comparison to each other. One of the greatest blessings of Allah Almighty is that He taught mankind the method of measurement for determining the quantity of everything. This measurement includes all kinds of scales: weight, measure, area, temperature, coldness, pressure, humidity—in short, He granted the skill to make thousands of types of measuring instruments, through which people conduct their affairs correctly and in the best possible way. Without this, no task could be properly accomplished, and with these very measures, people conduct transactions with one another. If these did not exist, mutual transactions with peace of mind would not have been possible.

The Meaning of Mizan:
In this verse, most commentators have taken "mizan" to mean the scale of justice, by which the heavens and the earth are established, as is also mentioned in the hadiths. In this case, their justice refers to the balance and proportion that has been placed between the gravitational force, i.e., the attraction of ﴿ثقل﴾, and the centrifugal force in every planet. In addition, the intermediate distance of each planet, their speed, and their mutual relationship are also included, and this is such a subtle and delicate relationship that it is beyond human understanding. And this balance and proportion has been mentioned with the word "mizan" because there was no word closer to its meaning to make it understandable for humans.
