Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 56) ➊ The pronoun of { فِيْهِنَّقٰصِرٰتُالطَّرْفِ:’’ فِيْهِنَّ ‘‘} is referring to {’’ فُرُشٍ ‘‘}. {’’ قٰصِرٰتُ ‘‘ ’’قَصَرَيَقْصُرُقَصْرًا‘‘} (to restrain) is an active participle, meaning those who keep their eyes restrained for their husbands. In the palaces, springs, and gardens of Paradise, this is a description of the apparent and hidden qualities and the perfection and beauty of the women who will captivate the hearts of the dwellers of Paradise on the spread-out beds. Allah Almighty first described their inner beauty: their eyes will not be raised towards anyone except their husbands, nor will anyone be greater in their sight than their husbands. In reality, this one quality outweighs thousands of others; no matter how beautiful a woman is, if she lacks this quality, she holds no value in the eyes of a protective man. An Arab poet says: {وَأَتْرُكُحُبَّهَامِنْغَيْرِبُغْضٍ ¤ وَذَاكَلِكَثْرَةِالشُّرَكَاءِفِيْهِ ¤ إِذَاوَقَعَالذُّبَابُعَلٰيطَعَامٍ ¤ رَفَعْتُيَدِيْوَنَفْسِيْتَشْتَهِيْهِ ¤ وَتَجْتَنِبُالْأُسُوْدُوُرُوْدَمَاءٍ ¤ إِذَاكَانَالْكِلَابُوَلَغْنَفِيْهِ} "I abandon her love without any hatred, because there are many others sharing in this love. When a fly lands on the food, I withdraw my hand, even though my heart desires it. And lions avoid the water when dogs have put their mouths in it." ➋ { لَمْيَطْمِثْهُنَّاِنْسٌقَبْلَهُمْوَلَاجَآنٌّ: ’’طَمَثَيَطْمِثُطَمْثًا‘‘} (ض) to touch. That is, those women will be virgins; even if they had husbands in the world, they will become virgins anew in Paradise, and no one will have touched them before the husbands they receive in Paradise. Regarding the women given to the companions of the right, Allah Almighty said: « اِنَّاۤاَنْشَاْنٰهُنَّاِنْشَآءً (35) فَجَعَلْنٰهُنَّاَبْكَارًا (36) عُرُبًااَتْرَابًا (37) لِّاَصْحٰبِالْيَمِيْنِ»[ الواقعۃ : ۳۵ تا ۳۸ ] "Indeed, We have created them (the women of the beds) in a new creation. So We made them virgins, loving and of equal age for the companions of the right." Then the wives given to the Muqarrabun (the ones brought near) will be far superior to these. ➌ From this verse, it is understood that just as humans, jinn will also enter Paradise; there, humans will be given wives from their own kind, and jinn from their own kind, because there is neither compatibility nor intimacy with the other kind, and then the question of {’’ اَتْرَابًا ‘‘} (playmates in the dust) does not even arise.
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
56. 1. Whose eyes will not fall upon anyone except their husbands, and their own husbands will appear to them as the most handsome and best.
56. 2. That is, they will be virgins and newly wedded. Before this, they will not have been in anyone's marriage. From this verse and some of the preceding verses, it is clearly understood that those jinn who are believers will also enter Paradise just like believing humans, and for them as well, there will be the same as for the rest of the people of faith.

56. In those gardens will be women who lower their gaze [36], whom neither any human nor jinn has ever touched before.
[36] The first and foremost quality of the women of Paradise will be that they are modest and shy; they will not try to look at anyone other than their husbands. Despite being extremely beautiful, unlike the women of this world, they will not exchange glances with their admirers. Their second quality will be that they are virgins or maidens. Besides the houris, the women that the people of Paradise will receive will be those who were their wives in this world. Even if they had children in this world or had grown old, they will be made youthful and virginal and then admitted into Paradise. From this verse, it is also understood that the process of procreation exists among the jinn as well, and the believing jinn who enter Paradise will also be given their wives from this world, made youthful and virginal.
