So on that Day no question will be asked of man or jinns as to his sin, [because they have already been known from their faces either white (dwellers of Paradise - true believers of Islamic Monotheism) or black (dwellers of Hell - polytheists; disbelievers, criminals)].

(Ayah 39) {فَيَوْمَىِٕذٍلَّايُسْـَٔلُعَنْذَنْۢبِهٖۤاِنْسٌوَّلَاجَآنٌّ:} That is, on that Day, in order to know who is guilty and what sin he has committed, there will be no need to ask any human or jinn, because all the criminals will be recognized by their mark, as is mentioned in the next verse: « يُعْرَفُالْمُجْرِمُوْنَبِسِيْمٰهُمْ » "The criminals will be recognized by their mark." And as stated in Surah Qasas: «وَلَايُسْـَٔلُعَنْذُنُوْبِهِمُالْمُجْرِمُوْنَ »[ القصص:۷۸] "And the criminals will not be questioned about their sins." Yes, for the purpose of rebuking, humiliating, and reproaching, they will certainly be questioned, as He said: « فَوَرَبِّكَلَنَسْـَٔلَنَّهُمْاَجْمَعِيْنَ (92) عَمَّاكَانُوْايَعْمَلُوْنَ »[ الحجر : ۹۲،۹۳ ] "So by your Lord, We will surely question them all, about what they used to do." And He said: « وَقِفُوْهُمْاِنَّهُمْمَّسْـُٔوْلُوْنَ»[ الصافات :۲۴ ] "And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned."

39. 1. That is, at the time when they will come out of the graves. Otherwise, later at the place of reckoning, they will be questioned. Some have explained its meaning as that they will not be questioned about the sins, because the complete record of those will be with the angels and also in Allah's knowledge. However, they will be asked why did you do these? Or it means, they will not be questioned, rather the human limbs themselves will speak and inform.

39. On that Day, no human or jinn will be asked about his sin [28] (whether he committed it or not).
[28] On the Day of Resurrection, there will be different kinds of treatment for the criminals at different moments. At one point, they will be properly questioned, as Allah says: ﴿فَوَرَبِّكَلَنَسْــَٔـلَنَّهُمْاَجْمَعِيْنَ﴾[92:15]. And there will also come a time when the criminals will deny their sins. At that time, Allah Almighty will not ask them, but rather will seal their tongues and command their hands, feet, and skins to speak. They will describe the imprints left upon them during the commission of those crimes. In this way, testimony will be established against them.
