If the meaning of {’’اَلدِّهَانُ‘‘} is taken as red leather, then at this point the verse is describing one attribute of the sky: that the sky, which is blue today, will become red and pink like red leather at that time. And if the meaning of {’’اَلدِّهَانُ‘‘} is taken as oil, then at the time of the sky splitting, the verse will be describing two attributes: one, that it will be red due to intense heat, and second, that it will melt and become like oil, as He said: « يَوْمَ تَكُوْنُ السَّمَآءُ كَالْمُهْلِ » [ المعارج : ۸ ] "The Day when the sky will be like molten brass (or dregs)." [27] First, the word ﴿وردة﴾ is used. Ward means rose flower, and ﴿وَرْدَةً﴾ means rosy color, ﴿دِهَانٌ﴾ means the reddish sediment of oil—that is, on the day when the sky will be rent asunder, the entire system of the planets will be disrupted, and whoever looks towards the sky will feel as if there is fire blazing everywhere in the higher realm.
