Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 42) {كَذَّبُوْا بِاٰيٰتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَاَخَذْنٰهُمْ … : ’’ عَزِيْزٍ ‘‘} Dominant over all, whatever He wills, none can prevent Him. {’’ مُقْتَدِرٍ ‘‘’’قَدَرَ يَقْدِرُ‘‘} (ض) is from the form ifti‘āl; due to the additional letters, in {’’ مُقْتَدِرٍ ‘‘} the meaning of power is greater than in {’’ قَادِرٌ ‘‘} and {’’ قَدِيْرٌ ‘‘}, that is, whatever He wills, He has complete power over it, in no way is He incapable. The intention is to describe the severity and horror of the punishment that befell the people of Pharaoh. See also Surah Hud (11:102).

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

42. 1. Those signs, through which Musa (عليه السلام) warned Pharaoh and the people of Pharaoh, were the very signs that have already been mentioned before.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

42. They denied all Our signs, so We seized them with a grasp like that of the Mighty, the Powerful [29].

The Divinity Claimed by Pharaoh and the Fate of the People of Pharaoh:

Pharaoh had also set himself up as a god in his land. Sayyiduna Musa and Sayyiduna Harun (peace be upon them) came to him with such clear miracles that made them certain that these were truly messengers of Allah. But he was absolutely unwilling to relinquish his rule and claim to divinity, so he denied the messengers and, instead of believing in them, began to inflict oppression and tyranny, and started plotting to kill Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him). At that time, We gave him such a punishment from which he had no way to escape. We brought him and his armies right into the middle of the sea and commanded the sea to flow. In this way, he and his armies were drowned in the sea. At that time, neither his divinity benefited him nor his armies.
