[4] The First Time You Saw Sayyiduna Jibreel in His Original Form:
In these verses, there is mention of Sayyiduna Jibreel ؑ, who possesses great powers. "Qawi" is the plural of "quwwah," and the word "dhū mirrah" is used in a very broad sense. Its meaning includes strong, powerful, wise, and also handsome. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw Sayyiduna Jibreel ؑ in his original form twice in his life. In these verses, the incident is mentioned when you ﷺ saw him for the first time. Sayyiduna Jibreel appeared on the eastern horizon. Then it seemed to you ﷺ that the space between the earth and the sky was filled with him, as is evident from the following hadith: Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah ؓ says that I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He used to mention the cessation of revelation. He ﷺ said: Once, while I was walking along the path, I heard a voice from the sky. I looked up towards the sky and saw the same angel who had come to me at Hira. He was sitting on a chair between the earth and the sky (suspended). I was so frightened that I fell to the ground out of fear. Then I came home and said to my family: "Cover me with a blanket, cover me with a blanket." So they covered me with a blanket. At that time, Allah Almighty revealed these verses, from ﴿يٰاَيُّهَاالْمُدَّثِرْ﴾ to ﴿فَاهْجُرْ﴾. After that, the revelation became intense and began to come continuously. [بخاري۔ كتاب التفسير، تفسير سورة ئمدثر] The disbelievers of Makkah used to accuse the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that some non-Arab person teaches him the words of the Quran. Then he recites them to us and claims that they are revealed from Allah. In response, Allah Almighty said that it is not a non-Arab person, but rather an angel possessing many powers and qualities who teaches him this Quran.
