وَتَسِيرُ ٱلْجِبَالُ سَيْرًا ﴿10﴾
And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement.
وَتَسِيرُ watasīru And will move away
ٱلْجِبَالُ l-jibālu the mountains
سَيْرًۭا sayran (with an awful) movement

And the mountains will fly about swiftly [8],

[8] That is, the mountains which were spread out on the earth to stop its shaking and swaying, their grip on the earth will loosen, and they themselves will fly about rapidly, and it will seem as if they are tufts of carded cotton flying around. In this way, the entire system of the earth and sky will be thrown into chaos.
