Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 1) ➊ { وَالطُّوْرِ:} Here, Allah Almighty has sworn by His five magnificent creations to assure that His punishment on the Day of Resurrection will certainly befall His enemies, and no one can avert it. These five creations are witnesses to Allah Almighty’s great and limitless power and might, and they are proof that for the Creator of such great creations, establishing the Resurrection and punishing His deniers is a trivial matter. ➋ { ’’ الطُّوْرِ ‘‘} means the mountain on which plants grow. “Tur” is also the name of a specific mountain at whose base Allah Almighty spoke to Musa (Moses), peace be upon him, and if it has the definite article “al,” it refers to all mountains. Allah Almighty has mentioned mountains in several places to draw attention to His greatness. Their being embedded in the earth, rising towards the sky, the presence of springs, plants, and trees on them despite being thousands of feet above sea level, the existence of countless reserves of water in the form of glaciers at such heights, the countless treasures of minerals hidden within them, the presence of pathways despite their height and solidity—all these are countless signs of Allah Almighty’s power and greatness in the mountains. See also Surah Ra’d (3), Hijr (19), Nahl (81,15), Luqman (10), Fatir (27), Mursalat (27), Naba (7), Nazi’at (32), and Ghashiyah (19).

By Mount [1] Tur,
The Different Names and Location of Mount Tur:
Tur is also called Tur Sinai and Tur Sinin. Sinai and Sinin are both names for the same mountain, whose elevation is 7,260 feet above sea level, and it lies on the route from Midian to Egypt or from Egypt to Midian (in the region of Shaam (the Levant)). It was at this very place that Musa ؑ was honored with conversing with Allah Almighty twice. One of the peaks of this mountain is called Tur, and the valley at the foot of this mountain is called Tuwa, which is referred to in the Quran as the Sacred Valley and the Blessed Spot. When Musa ؑ brought the Children of Israel out of Egypt, they passed through this very route. Mount Tur is called Tur Sinin due to this association.
