Nay, they wonder that there has come to them a warner (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) from among themselves. So the disbelievers say: "This is a strange thing!

(Ayah 2) ➊ { بَلْعَجِبُوْۤااَنْجَآءَهُمْمُّنْذِرٌمِّنْهُمْ: ’’ عَجِبُوْۤا ‘‘} (They were astonished) — the pronoun here refers to the disbelievers of Quraysh, and the warner is our master Muhammad (peace be upon him). Some have said that the pronoun refers to all people, and the meaning of "from among them" is that he (peace be upon him) is a human from their own kind. And among his (peace be upon him) attributes, the mention of {’’ مُنْذِرٌ ‘‘} is because he used to warn them about being resurrected, being presented before Allah Almighty, and His punishment.
➋ {فَقَالَالْكٰفِرُوْنَهٰذَاشَيْءٌعَجِيْبٌ:} This is the second thing that the disbelievers found strange, and that is being resurrected after death. Here, instead of saying {’’فَقَالُوْا‘‘}, it is said {’’ فَقَالَالْكٰفِرُوْنَ ‘‘}, so the word {’’ الْكٰفِرُوْنَ ‘‘} is to express their condemnation, as there is no reasonable cause for this astonishment, because the One who created them the first time, when they were nothing and not even mentioned, can create them again. Rather, this astonishment is merely due to their disbelief and stubborn refusal to accept.

2. 1. Although there is nothing surprising in this, every prophet was an individual from the same nation to which he was sent. Accordingly, to warn the Quraysh of Makkah, a person from among the Quraysh themselves was chosen for prophethood.

But [2] they are amazed that a warner from among themselves has come to them. So the disbelievers say, “This is a strange thing.”
[2] The statement or statements of such a majestic Quran upon which the oath is being taken are omitted here. And it has been left to the understanding of the addressees, that is, the disbelievers of Makkah. It is evident that the entire dispute of the disbelievers of Makkah was based on two points: first, they denied your ﷺ prophethood; second, they denied the Hereafter. And the oath is taken to affirm that the arguments of the Quran and its internal testimony are clear evidence that both matters are true. [3] The Disbelievers’ First Objection: Why is the Messenger from Among Them?
Before the Prophetic era ﷺ, not only Arabia but the entire world was engulfed in turmoil and corruption. Now, the astonishing thing would have been if Allah had not sent any prophet or warner for the guidance of mankind in such circumstances. Whereas these people are surprised that Allah has sent a warner! Their second astonishment is that if a warner has come, why is he not a non-human or an angel? And their third astonishment is that if the warner had to be a human, why did he come from their own tribe and nation, and why does he speak the Arabic language? Why did a Chinese, Japanese, or Englishman not come? Whereas astonishment should be reserved for such irrational things as the disbelievers of Makkah are doing.
