وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْجَحِيمِ ﴿86﴾
But those who disbelieved and belied Our Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), they shall be the dwellers of the (Hell) Fire.
وَٱلَّذِينَ wa-alladhīna And those who
كَفَرُوا۟ kafarū disbelieved
وَكَذَّبُوا۟ wakadhabū and denied
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ biāyātinā Our Signs
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ulāika those
أَصْحَـٰبُ aṣḥābu (are the) companions
ٱلْجَحِيمِ l-jaḥīmi (of) the Hellfire

86. And those who disbelieve and deny Our signs [130], they are the people of the Fire.

[130] Consider this: these Christians were also People of the Book, and the Jews of Madinah and their leaders were also People of the Book. But in terms of their attitude towards the Muslims, there is a difference between them as vast as the earth and the sky. This difference has been mentioned in the previous verse. In terms of being People of the Book and claiming monotheism, the Jews should have, like the Christians, been closer to the Muslims rather than to the polytheists, but the situation was the opposite. The Jews denied those verses of Allah which were present in the Torah. Therefore, the punishment for such evil-doers can only be Hell.
