On the Day when Allâh will gather the Messengers together and say to them: "What was the response you received (from men to your teaching)?" They will say: "We have no knowledge, verily, only You are the All-Knower of all that is hidden (or unseen)."

(Ayah 109) ➊ {يَوْمَيَجْمَعُاللّٰهُالرُّسُلَ … :} After mentioning some matters and rulings of religion, now some conditions of the Day of Resurrection are described, so that those who disobey may be warned. (Kabir) The meaning is that on the Day of Resurrection, the prophets will be gathered and asked: to what extent did your nations accept the invitation you gave? This question to the prophets will, in reality, be for the purpose of rebuking and reproaching the nations. (Ibn Kathir) As in the verse: «وَاِذَاالْمَوْءٗدَةُسُىِٕلَتْ» "When the girl who was buried alive will be asked," this question will, in reality, be to disgrace those who buried her alive.
➋ {قَالُوْالَاعِلْمَلَنَا …:} They will say that we have no knowledge. Here, the question arises that the prophets did have some knowledge of their nations' responses to their own messengers, because their lives were spent among them, so how can they say that we have no knowledge? The answer to this question is present in «اِنَّكَاَنْتَعَلَّامُالْغُيُوْبِ », that is, we are only aware of their outward responses, which they gave during our lifetimes, and the prophets will testify only regarding that. (See Nisa: 41; Baqarah: 143) As for whether they truly accepted our invitation in their hearts or not, and to what extent our nations remained steadfast on this invitation after us, no one knows this except You, because You alone are fully aware of hidden matters, so there is, by the grace of Allah, no contradiction in the verses. (Kabir) Shah Abdul Qadir (may Allah have mercy on him) says that this was recited to those who are proud of the intercession of the prophets, so that they may know that before Allah Almighty, no one testifies about anyone's heart, and no one intercedes for anyone. 19. 1. Whatever good or bad treatment the nations gave to the Prophets (علیہم السلام), they will certainly have knowledge of it, but they will deny their knowledge either due to the terror of the Day of Judgment and the awe and majesty of Allah, the Glorious and Exalted, or it will be related to the circumstances after their death. Besides, knowledge of inner matters belongs only to Allah. Therefore, they will say, "You alone are the Knower of the unseen, not us." From this, it is understood that the Prophets and Messengers are not knowers of the unseen; only Allah is the Knower of the unseen. Whatever knowledge the Prophets have, firstly, it is related to those matters which are necessary for the fulfillment of the duties of Prophethood. Secondly, even about those, they are informed through revelation. Whereas the Knower of the unseen is the one who has knowledge of everything inherently, not by being informed by someone else, and the one who gains knowledge by being informed cannot be called the Knower of the unseen, nor is he the Knower of the unseen. So understand and ponder, and do not be among the heedless.

On the Day when Allah will gather all the Messengers and ask them, "What response [157] were you given?" They will say, "We have no knowledge; surely, You alone are the Knower of all that is hidden."
[157] Questioning the Prophets on the Day of Judgment:
Now, it is evident that the messengers did have some knowledge, to some extent, of the responses their communities gave them. However, on the Day of Reckoning, there will come a time when the terror will be so intense that, except for Muhammad ﷺ, the Messenger of Allah, all the prophets and messengers, along with everyone else, will be crying out for their own selves, and no one will be able to think of anything except their own salvation. For this reason, the messengers will give a very brief and concise answer at such a time, and this answer is also based on reality in the sense that, compared to Allah’s knowledge, the knowledge of others holds no real value. Furthermore, the second meaning of the word: ﴿مَاذَااَجَبْتُمْ﴾ could also be that, regarding the invitation you gave to the people, what was its outcome and to what extent did people accept that invitation? The prophets will answer: O Allah! You alone know this matter best; how could we have knowledge of it?
