Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 26) ➊ By {ذٰلِكَ بِاَنَّهُمْ قَالُوْا لِلَّذِيْنَ كَرِهُوْا مَا نَزَّلَ اللّٰهُ:’’ لِلَّذِيْنَ كَرِهُوْا مَا نَزَّلَ اللّٰهُ ‘‘} is meant the disbelievers, as at the beginning of this surah Allah Almighty said about the disbelievers: « ذٰلِكَ بِاَنَّهُمْ كَرِهُوْا مَاۤ اَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ فَاَحْبَطَ اَعْمَالَهُمْ » [محمد : ۹] "This is because they disliked what Allah revealed, so He rendered their deeds void."
➋ By 'some matters' in { سَنُطِيْعُكُمْ فِيْ بَعْضِ الْاَمْرِ:} is meant opposition and enmity towards the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and that when the time for battle comes, they deceive the Muslims and help their enemies in every way. That is, the reason for their turning back to disbelief and apostasy after accepting faith, fleeing from jihad, and adopting hypocrisy is that instead of obeying the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) in all matters like other sincere Muslims, they said to the disbelievers who disliked the religion revealed by Allah that due to accepting Islam and living among Muslims, we cannot obey your every command, nor can we openly express our disbelief, but we will certainly obey you in some matters. That is, they would help you at the time of battle, just as the chief of the hypocrites, Abdullah bin Ubayy, took three hundred men back from the battlefield at Uhud, and just as the hypocrites encouraged the Jews of Banu Nadir to stand firm against the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), saying, if you are expelled, we will go out with you, and if you are fought against, we will fight alongside you. See Surah Al-Hashr (11).
➌ And Allah Almighty knows well their secret talks and conspiracies which they do in hiding. The meaning is that He will surely punish them for it. The subject of this verse is also mentioned in Surah An-Nisa, verse (81).

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

26. 1. By "this" is meant their becoming apostates.
26. 2. That is, the hypocrites said to the polytheists or to the Jews.
26. 3. That is, in opposition to the Prophet ﷺ and the religion brought by him ﷺ.
26. 4. As stated elsewhere: وَاللّٰهُ يَكْتُبُ مَا يُبَيِّتُوْنَ) 4. An-Nisa:81).

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

26. This is because they said to those (Jews) who disliked what Allah had revealed, "We will obey you in some matters [30]." But Allah knows well their secret conversations.

The Secret Pact of the Hypocrites with the Jews:

One reason why Satan was able to so thoroughly deceive them was that these wretched hypocrites had secretly made a deal with the Jews. At the Jews’ request, these hypocrites had also made certain claims that they would keep them informed about the movements of the Muslims and their military activities. And if war broke out, they would not fight against them, but would instead continue to deceive the Muslims. During the war, the hypocrites acted in exactly this manner, and in return, the Jews had also made some promises to them. In other words, the hypocrites were insiders for the Jews and traitors to the Muslims. But Allah knows the secrets of every heart. He would inform the Muslims from time to time about the deeds of these hypocrites, so they would become disgraced and exposed.
