O our people! Respond (with obedience) to Allâh’s Caller (i.e. Allâh’s Messenger Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), and believe in him (i.e. believe in that which Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم has brought from Allâh and follow him). He (Allâh) will forgive you of your sins, and will save you from a painful torment (i.e. Hell-fire)

(Ayah 31) ➊ The purpose of addressing again with { يٰقَوْمَنَاۤ … : ’’ يٰقَوْمَنَاۤ ‘‘} is to draw attention to the importance of what is stated in this verse. Just as a speaker, in the midst of speech, says {’’أَيُّهَاالنَّاسُ‘‘} to draw attention to something important. (Ibn Ashur) ➋ By { اَجِيْبُوْادَاعِيَاللّٰهِ: ’’ دَاعِيَاللّٰهِ ‘‘} is meant the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, because his invitation was not towards himself or any other creature, but only towards the worship of Allah and obedience to Him alone, as He said: « قُلْهٰذِهٖسَبِيْلِيْۤاَدْعُوْۤااِلَىاللّٰهِعَلٰىبَصِيْرَةٍاَنَاوَمَنِاتَّبَعَنِيْوَسُبْحٰنَاللّٰهِوَمَاۤاَنَامِنَالْمُشْرِكِيْنَ »[ یوسف : ۱۰۸ ] "Say: This is my way; I call to Allah upon clear insight, I and those who follow me. And exalted is Allah, and I am not of those who associate others with Him." Here is a question: During the Fajr prayer when the jinn heard the recitation of the Quran by the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, which verses did he recite that contained the teachings which the jinn conveyed to their people? The answer is that even if we do not know any other verses, the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah is certain, which encompasses all the subjects of the Quran within itself. ➌ { يَغْفِرْلَكُمْمِّنْذُنُوْبِكُمْوَيُجِرْكُمْمِّنْعَذَابٍاَلِيْمٍ: ’’ يَغْفِرْ ‘‘}, {’’ يُجِرْ‘‘ ’’ اَجِيْبُوْا ‘‘}, and {’’ اٰمِنُوْا ‘‘} (imperative verbs) are in the jussive case because they are the response to a command. {’’ يُجِرْ ‘‘} is originally {’’يُجِيْرُ‘‘}, which is the indicative present tense of the form IV verb. Due to the sukoon (jussive) on the letter ra, and the meeting of two silent letters (ya and ra), the ya was omitted, so it became {’’ يُجِرْ ‘‘}. ➍ What is the benefit of bringing {’’ مِنْ ‘‘} in {’’ يَغْفِرْلَكُمْمِّنْذُنُوْبِكُمْ ‘‘}? For this, see the commentary of Surah Nuh (4). ➎ Upon accepting the invitation of Allah's caller and believing in it, two glad tidings are given: one is the glad tiding of attaining the benefit that you will receive by believing, that He will forgive your sins; and the second is the glad tiding of being saved from irreparable loss, that He will grant you refuge from the painful punishment.

31. 1 The jinn invited their people to believe in the Prophethood of the Noble Prophet ﷺ. Before this, it was mentioned regarding the Noble Quran that it is another heavenly book after the Torah, which guides towards the true religion and the straight path.
31. 2 Here, the benefits of believing are mentioned, which they will attain in the Hereafter. In "من ذنوبکم", "من" is partitive, meaning He will forgive some sins, and these will be the sins related to the rights of Allah, because the rights of people will not be forgiven. This verse is evidence that in reward and punishment, and in commands and prohibitions, the same ruling applies to the jinn as to humans.
