Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 30) ➊ {قَالُوْايٰقَوْمَنَاۤاِنَّاسَمِعْنَاكِتٰبًااُنْزِلَمِنْۢبَعْدِمُوْسٰى:} Instead of mentioning the name of the last revealed book, the Gospel, the jinn mentioned the Torah. According to some commentators, the reason for this is either that they followed the religion of the Jews, or they were unaware of the revelation of the Gospel. However, the more authentic opinion is that the last book before the Qur’an which contained legal rulings was the Torah. The Psalms of Dawud (David), peace be upon him, and the Gospel of Isa (Jesus), peace be upon him, were books that completed or explained and clarified it. All the prophets who came after Musa (Moses), peace be upon him, even Isa (Jesus), peace be upon him, were bound to act upon the Torah. (See al-Ma’idah: 44) In this same Surah al-Ahqaf, the book of Musa (Moses), peace be upon him, is also mentioned before the Qur’an, as He said: « وَمِنْقَبْلِهٖكِتٰبُمُوْسٰۤىاِمَامًاوَّرَحْمَةً»[الأحقاف : ۱۲ ] “And before it was the Book of Musa, a guide and a mercy.” When the first revelation descended upon the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in the cave of Hira, and Umm al-Mu’minin Khadijah, may Allah be pleased with her, took him to Waraqah bin Nawfal, he listened to the whole matter and said: [ هٰذَاالنَّامُوْسُالَّذِيْأُنْزِلَعَلٰیمُوْسٰی][ بخاري، التعبیر، باب أوّل ما بدء بہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم … : ۶۹۸۲ ] “This is the same keeper of secrets (the angel) who was sent down to Musa (Moses), peace be upon him.” Even though Waraqah bin Nawfal had previously accepted the religion of Isa (Jesus), peace be upon him, and was a scholar of the Gospel.
➋ { مُصَدِّقًالِّمَابَيْنَيَدَيْهِ:} That is, this Book confirms all the previous heavenly books, for through this Book all those matters and prophecies have come true which were mentioned in those books, including the prophecy of the coming of the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
➌ { يَهْدِيْۤاِلَىالْحَقِّوَاِلٰىطَرِيْقٍمُّسْتَقِيْمٍ:} Ibn Kathir, may Allah have mercy on him, said: “That is, it guides to the truth in beliefs and reports, and to the straight path in actions, because the Qur’an consists of both information and commands. Its information is truth and its commands are justice, as He said: «وَتَمَّتْكَلِمَتُرَبِّكَصِدْقًاوَّعَدْلًا »[ الأنعام : ۱۱۵ ] ‘And the word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and in justice.’ And Allah the Exalted said: «هُوَالَّذِيْۤاَرْسَلَرَسُوْلَهٗبِالْهُدٰىوَدِيْنِالْحَقِّ »[ التوبۃ : ۳۳ ] ‘He it is Who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth.’ Thus, guidance is beneficial knowledge and the religion of truth is righteous action, and the jinn also said the same: {’’ يَهْدِيْۤاِلَىالْحَقِّ ‘‘} (It guides to the truth in beliefs) {’’ وَاِلٰىطَرِيْقٍمُّسْتَقِيْمٍ ‘‘} (and to the straight path in actions).”

30. They said, "O our people! We have heard a Book that has been sent down after Moses [44], confirming what came before it. It guides to the truth and to a straight path."
[44] These Jinn Had Already Believed in the Torah:
The jinn mentioned the Book of Torah revealed to Sayyiduna Musa (Moses) ؑ, but did not mention the Gospel. This is because, among the previous heavenly books, none was as comprehensive in terms of laws and commandments as the Torah, nor was any equal to it. The scholars of Bani Israel also followed it. Even Sayyiduna Isa (Jesus) ؑ himself said that he did not come to change the Torah, but to complete it. And since the time of Sayyiduna Sulaiman (Solomon), the Torah was well-known among the jinn. Furthermore, the Torah itself contains the prophecy regarding the coming of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, with the words: (O Musa) I will send a prophet like you. From this verse, it is also understood that these jinn had already believed in the Torah and the heavenly books. When they heard the Quran, they immediately realized that this is the same teaching that the previous prophets had been giving. Therefore, they immediately believed.
