Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 34) {اِنَّ هٰۤؤُلَآءِ لَيَقُوْلُوْنَ:} Here, the story of Musa (peace be upon him) ends, which had come in between as a parenthetical statement, and the discourse is once again connected to the disbelievers of Quraysh, which was ongoing from before, and it was said to the disbelievers: « لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ يُحْيٖ وَ يُمِيْتُ رَبُّكُمْ وَ رَبُّ اٰبَآىِٕكُمُ الْاَوَّلِيْنَ (8) بَلْ هُمْ فِيْ شَكٍّ يَّلْعَبُوْنَ » [ الدخان : ۸، ۹ ] "There is no deity except Him, He gives life and causes death, He is your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers. Rather, they are in doubt, playing." In these verses, Allah Almighty has presented His giving of life and causing of death as evidence for the Resurrection and has stated that the disbelievers are caught up in doubt. After mentioning the rebellion and drowning of Pharaoh, the disbelievers of Quraysh are mentioned {’’ هٰۤؤُلَآءِ ‘‘} (these people), and it is said with disdain that you have heard the fate of deniers like Pharaoh, who possessed power, might, and awe; now listen to the words of these people who have no power in comparison, yet they too are not willing to accept Our power to resurrect, rather they say.
