Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 20) {وَ اِنِّيْ عُذْتُ بِرَبِّيْ وَ رَبِّكُمْ اَنْ تَرْجُمُوْنِ:} This refers to the time when the message of Musa (peace be upon him) had quietly spread far and wide, to the extent that several of Pharaoh's people had also secretly believed in him. At that time, Pharaoh decided to kill Musa (peace be upon him). When Musa (peace be upon him) learned that the intention of Pharaoh’s people was to stone him to death in the worst possible way, he said, “I seek refuge with my and your Lord from your stoning me, for He is not only my Lord but also yours. You cannot overpower Him to stone me.” In Surah Al-Mu’min (26, 27), there is a detailed mention of Pharaoh’s announcement to kill, Musa’s (peace be upon him) supplication, and his seeking refuge with Allah.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

20. 1. In response to this call and preaching, Pharaoh threatened to kill Musa (عليه السلام), upon which he sought refuge with his Lord.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

20. And I have sought refuge with my Lord and your Lord so that you cannot stone me [15].

Pharaoh’s Intention to Kill Sayyiduna Musa (AS):

This refers to the time when the message of Sayyiduna Musa (AS) was spreading quietly. Besides the Children of Israel, many people from Pharaoh’s own nation had secretly embraced faith in Sayyiduna Musa (AS), and Pharaoh began to fear the loss of his kingdom. He said to his courtiers and people, “Let me kill Musa, otherwise he will destroy your religion and spread great disorder in the land.” In response, Musa (AS) said, “I have sought refuge with my Lord. Therefore, you will not be able to harm me in the least. Stoning me is out of the question.”
