Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 44) ➊ {وَاِنَّهٗلَذِكْرٌلَّكَوَلِقَوْمِكَ:} The meaning of "dhikr" is both admonition and reminder, as well as honor, dignity, and fame. Here, both meanings are intended. That is, this Qur’an is an admonition and reminder for you and your people, and it is also a source of honor and dignity for you, your people, the Quraysh, and the Arabs. It was revealed in the Arabic language, and its primary addressees and the first to act upon it are the Quraysh and the Arabs. The non-Arab nations who believe in it will have to learn the Arabic language to acquire the teachings of the Qur’an and will have to become students of the Arabs. Is it not enough of an honor for the Quraysh and the Arabs that all those who came later became Muslims at their hands? The east and west of the earth were conquered and embraced Islam through their jihad, and Allah Almighty kept the caliphate of the Muslims among them as long as they upheld the religion, because the Qur’an is a source of honor only for those who act upon it; merely being an Arab or a Qurayshi is not sufficient. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: [ وَالْقُرْآنُحُجَّةٌلَكَأَوْعَلَيْكَ ][مسلم، الطھارۃ، باب فضل الوضوء : ۲۲۳، عن أبي مالک الأشعري رضی اللہ عنہ ] “The Qur’an is either a proof for you or a proof against you.”
From this verse, it is also understood that the desire for a good name is a good thing; otherwise, Allah Almighty would not have mentioned it as a favor upon His Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and Abraham (peace be upon him) would not have prayed to Allah Almighty: « وَاجْعَلْلِّيْلِسَانَصِدْقٍفِيالْاٰخِرِيْنَ»[الشعراء : ۸۴ ] “And grant me a reputation of truth among those who come later.”
➋ { وَسَوْفَتُسْـَٔلُوْنَ:} That is, on the Day of Resurrection you will be questioned as to how much you valued this book of admonition, which was a source of honor and dignity for you, how much you acted upon it, and to what extent you fulfilled the responsibility of conveying it to all the nations of the world.

44. And indeed, this Book is a reminder [43] for you and your people, and soon you will be questioned about it.
[43] That is, this Book, the Noble Quran, is a great blessing that is being given to you and your people. What greater good fortune could there be for you and your people than that We are revealing to you a Book that will remain a source of guidance for the whole world until the Day of Judgment, and that, leaving aside other nations, your people will become the means of conveying this divine message to every corner of the world. Therefore, those who at this time mock this great blessing or do not even care to listen to it will certainly be questioned. And O Muslims! You too will be asked whether you conveyed this message of Allah to the people of the world.
