وَٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ ﴿2﴾

(Ayah 2){ وَ الْكِتٰبِ الْمُبِيْنِ:} An oath is taken to instill certainty about what is stated in response to it. Sometimes, an oath is sworn by something due to its greatness, so that the listener becomes convinced of the statement, for example, an oath by Allah Almighty. Sometimes, the oath serves as evidence for the statement that follows. Most of the oaths in the Noble Qur’an are of this kind. In {’’ الْكِتٰبِ ‘‘}, the definite article “al” is for specification, therefore the translation is “by this Book.” Here, the attribute {’’ الْمُبِيْنِ ‘‘} of the Noble Qur’an is presented as evidence that it is We who have revealed it as an Arabic Qur’an. Its manner of explaining everything so excellently is proof that this is not the speech of any human or other creature, but rather revealed by the Lord of all worlds.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan.
