Or have they taken (for worship) Auliyâ’ (guardians, supporters, helpers, protectors, lords, gods) besides Him? But Allâh - He Alone is the Walî (Lord, God, Protector). And it is He Who gives life to the dead, and He is Able to do all things.

(Ayah 9){ اَمِاتَّخَذُوْامِنْدُوْنِهٖۤاَوْلِيَآءَ … :} In the previous verse, it was stated that for the wrongdoers there is neither a protector (friend) nor any helper; this is its explanation: have they taken other than Allah as any protectors, supporters, and friends? So the real friend, who can truly support and help, is only Allah. Along with this, two powerful proofs are mentioned: He alone gives life to the dead and will give life, and He alone is fully capable of everything, because only the one who possesses these attributes has the right to be called so. Then what could be a greater injustice than to take such beings as protectors and supporters who, far from giving life to anyone, are themselves mortal? It is said: « اَمْوَاتٌغَيْرُاَحْيَآءٍوَمَايَشْعُرُوْنَاَيَّانَيُبْعَثُوْنَ »[ النحل : ۲۱ ] "They are dead, not alive, and they do not know when they will be raised." To have power over everything is far off; they do not even own a speck. See Surah Saba (22).

9. 1. When this is the case, then Allah alone deserves to be acknowledged as the Protector and Helper, not those who possess no authority and who neither have the power to hear and respond, nor the ability to benefit or harm.

9. Have they taken protectors besides Allah? But the only Protector is Allah, and He is the One who gives life to the dead [8], and He is capable of all things.
[8] In Reality, the True Benefactors of Shrines Are the Sincere Disciples Themselves:
If you visit the temple or shrine of any disbeliever or polytheist, observe who the benefactors or facilitators are. The benefactors are those who offer donations and present offerings; it is through these benefactors or disciples that the business of the shrines flourishes. The custodians and servants of the shrines are thus well-off. In this world, it is the devout and sincere disciples who are their true benefactors. As for the Hereafter, for the sake of which they have become their benefactors, this matter will become clear to them not today, but in the Hereafter. They will realize that these saints are also helpless creatures like themselves and are utterly powerless in the court of Allah. A benefactor can only be one who possesses vast powers of control, and that can only be the Being of Allah, who can even give life to the dead and does so at every moment. Therefore, if you are to make someone your benefactor, make such a Being who can benefit you in both this world and the Hereafter.
