And you will see them brought forward to it (Hell) made humble by disgrace, (and) looking with stealthy glance. And those who believe will say: "Verily, the losers are they who lose themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection. Verily, the Zâlimûn [i.e. Al-Kâfirûn (disbelievers in Allâh, in His Oneness and in His Messenger صلى الله عليه و سلم, polytheists, wrong-doers)] will be in a lasting torment. (Tafsir At-Tabari).

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 45) ➊ { وَ تَرٰىهُمْ يُعْرَضُوْنَ عَلَيْهَا خٰشِعِيْنَ مِنَ الذُّلِّ يَنْظُرُوْنَ …:} At the time of being presented to the Fire, their condition is depicted as being humiliated, with their heads bowed and looking with a hidden glance, just as when someone’s hands and feet are tied and he is about to be struck with a sword, out of fear he closes his eyes, and then occasionally opens them slightly to see when the sword will fall upon him. Out of fear, he does not have the courage to open his eyes fully and look.
{وَ قَالَ الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْۤا اِنَّ الْخٰسِرِيْنَ … :} For its explanation, see the commentary of Surah Az-Zumar, Ayah (15).
{ اَلَاۤ اِنَّ الظّٰلِمِيْنَ فِيْ عَذَابٍ مُّقِيْمٍ:} This can also be the last part of the believers’ statement or the command of Allah Almighty. The wrongdoers, disbelievers, and polytheists are the ones who will remain in eternal punishment; He said: « اِنَّهٗ مَنْ يُّشْرِكْ بِاللّٰهِ فَقَدْ حَرَّمَ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ وَ مَاْوٰىهُ النَّارُ وَ مَا لِلظّٰلِمِيْنَ مِنْ اَنْصَارٍ » [ المائدۃ : ۷۲ ] “Indeed, the reality is that whoever associates partners with Allah, then surely Allah has forbidden Paradise for him, and his abode is the Fire, and for the wrongdoers there are no helpers.”

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

45. 1. That is, in the world these disbelievers used to consider us foolish and as people of worldly loss, whereas in the world we only preferred the Hereafter and did not give any importance to worldly losses. Today, see who is actually facing real loss: those who ignored the temporary losses of the world and are now enjoying the pleasures of Paradise, or those who considered the world to be everything and are now caught in such a punishment from which escape is not possible.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

And you will see them, when they are presented before it (the Fire), humbled in disgrace, looking with stealthy glances [64]. And those who believed will say, "Indeed, the true losers are those who lost themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection." Be aware! The wrongdoers will remain in everlasting punishment.

[64] Just as a pigeon, upon seeing a cat, closes its eyes out of fear of death, in the same way, when they see the punishment of Hell, they will close their eyes out of fear and humiliation. Then, when their anxiety increases, they will look towards Hell with the corners of their eyes, into which they are about to be thrown.
[65] That is, these wretched ones not only went astray themselves but also dragged along their associates and family members, destroying and ruining all of them.
