And He answers (the invocation of) those who believe (in the Oneness of Allâh - Islâmic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, and gives them increase of His Bounty. And as for the disbelievers, theirs will be a severe torment.

(Ayah 26) ➊ { وَيَسْتَجِيْبُالَّذِيْنَاٰمَنُوْاوَعَمِلُواالصّٰلِحٰتِ:} The meaning of "ijabat" is acceptance, and in "istijabat" the letter "seen" is for emphasis. This word is used for acting very quickly upon a command, responding very promptly to an invitation, or accepting a supplication very swiftly. (Ibn Ashur) That is, Allah Almighty accepts the supplication of those who possess faith and righteous deeds very quickly and gladly. (See Baqarah: 186, 218) In this sense, the supplication of disbelievers is not accepted at all, as He said: «وَمَادُعَآءُالْكٰفِرِيْنَاِلَّافِيْضَلٰلٍ »[ الرعد : ۱۴ ] "And the call of the disbelievers is nothing but utterly futile." However, for the purpose of extending the rope and completing the argument, the supplications of disbelievers are also accepted, but that is not acceptance (istijabat), rather it is enticement (istidraj) and a sign of displeasure, just as when Iblis asked for respite to mislead Adam (peace be upon him) and his progeny, it was granted to him.
➋ { وَيَزِيْدُهُمْمِّنْفَضْلِهٖ:} Two things are included in this: one is that the believing righteous, through their supplication and righteous deeds, whatever hope they have, Allah Almighty grants them that as well as much more than their hope. Similarly, He accepts every one of their deeds and increases it tenfold, up to seven hundred times, or even without measure. The second is that He grants them, out of His grace, also that which they have not requested, because He is very merciful to His servants and fully aware of their needs.
➌ { وَالْكٰفِرُوْنَلَهُمْعَذَابٌشَدِيْدٌ:} This is the general method of the Noble Qur’an, that along with encouragement, there is also warning. That is, those who persist in disbelief instead of repenting and die in that state, for them there is a severe punishment.

26. 1. That is, He listens to their prayers and fulfills their wishes and desires. Provided that the etiquettes and conditions of supplication are fully observed, and it is mentioned in the hadith: "Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His servant than that person whose mount, along with food and drink, gets lost in the desert or wilderness, and he, losing hope, lies down under a tree, when suddenly he finds his mount, and out of extreme joy, he utters, 'O Allah! You are my servant and I am Your Lord,' meaning he makes a mistake in his words due to excessive happiness." (Sahih Muslim)

26. And He answers the prayers of those who believe and do righteous deeds [40], and increases them out of His grace. But for the disbelievers, there is a severe punishment.
[40] The Condition of Righteous Deeds for the Acceptance of Supplication:
The condition of righteous deeds has been set for the acceptance of supplication. Among these righteous deeds, earning lawful (halal) sustenance is a very great righteous act. Because if a person's earnings are not lawful, his supplication will not be accepted, as the Prophet ﷺ said: "A person comes from afar, disheveled and distressed, and if he holds the covering of the Ka'bah and says, 'O Lord, O Lord, accept my supplication,' but how can his supplication be accepted when his food is unlawful, his drink is unlawful, and his flesh and bones are nourished from unlawful earnings?" [مسلم۔ کتاب الزکٰوۃ، باب بیان ان اسم الصدقۃ یقع علی کل نوع من المعروف]
