Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
And We have assigned for them (devils) intimate companions (in this world), who have made fair-seeming to them, what was before them (evil deeds which they were doing in the present worldly life and disbelief in the Reckoning and the Resurrection) and what was behind them (denial of the matters in the coming life of the Hereafter as regards punishment or reward). And the Word (i.e. the torment) is justified against them as it was justified against those who were among the previous generations of jinn and men that had passed away before them. Indeed they (all) were the losers.

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 25) ➊ {وَقَيَّضْنَالَهُمْقُرَنَآءَ …:’’ قُرَنَآءَ ‘‘ ’’قَرِيْنٌ‘‘} is the plural of 'qareen', a companion. {’’اَلْقَيْضُ‘‘} refers to the eggshell. That is, just as the shell is attached to the egg, in the same way, We have attached such evil people to these polytheists who cling to them just as the eggshell clings to the egg. This is the way of Allah that if a person is evil, he is provided with evil companions, who keep showing him green gardens. The result is that the person becomes engrossed in evils and ultimately drowns himself along with his companions. See also Surah Az-Zukhruf (36) and Surah Qaf (23 to 29). ➋ { فَزَيَّنُوْالَهُمْمَّابَيْنَاَيْدِيْهِمْ … : ’’ مَابَيْنَاَيْدِيْهِمْ ‘‘} refers to the deeds they were doing in the world, and {’’ وَمَاخَلْفَهُمْ ‘‘} refers to the evil deeds they had done before. That is, those evil companions keep making all their present and past evil deeds appear attractive to them, as a result of which they persist in them and become among those people about whom, due to their evil deeds, this statement of Allah applies: « لَاَمْلَـَٔنَّجَهَنَّمَمِنَالْجِنَّةِوَالنَّاسِاَجْمَعِيْنَ »[ ہود : ۱۱۹ ] "I will surely fill Hell with jinn and mankind all together." Some commentators have taken {’’ مَابَيْنَاَيْدِيْهِمْ ‘‘} to mean the world and {’’ وَمَاخَلْفَهُمْ ‘‘} to mean the Hereafter. That is, their evil companions also keep them in delusion regarding the Hereafter, saying that firstly, it will not happen at all, and even if it does, just as Allah has blessed you with bounties in the world, He will bless you there as well. See also Surah Maryam (77).
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
25. 1. By these are meant those human and jinn devils who attach themselves to those who persist in falsehood, who make disbelief and sins appear beautiful to them, thus they remain trapped in this mire of misguidance until death comes to them and they become deserving of eternal loss.
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
25. And We appointed for them companions [31] who made their deeds seem fair to them, both in front of them and behind them. Thus, the Word of Allah was fulfilled against them, just as it was fulfilled against the communities of jinn and men who passed away before them. Indeed, they are the losers [32].
[31] The Meaning of ﴿قرين﴾ and That a Person’s Character is Recognized by His Friends:
﴿قُرَنَاء﴾ is the plural of ﴿قرين﴾. Its meaning is a peer or companion of the same age, who is equal in bravery, strength, and other qualities, a playmate, and this word is used in a negative sense—that is, those who, forgetting Allah, become involved in evil deeds, their companions are also of the same type, satanic in nature. They always praise and applaud every evil act of theirs. For example, if one person from a group of thieves or robbers narrates his story of theft or robbery, the other companions will consider his act as bravery and will listen to and narrate his story with pride. None of them will think that by usurping people’s wealth, they are committing great major sins, and in this regard, the way of Allah is that evil and immoral people like friends of their own kind, and if by chance an immoral person befriends a person of good nature, that friendship cannot last long. Similarly, the friends of good people are always good people and can only be so. The friendship of a good-natured person with an immoral one can never last. Therefore, some people say that such-and-such a person was good himself but got bad companions—this is contrary to reality. Because if he was truly good, then only two possibilities exist: either he would have made others good as well, or he would have separated from them. And if he did neither of these, then how was he good?
[32] That is, those who follow the words of their evil companions and are influenced by them should understand that they themselves are preparing the means for their own destruction.
