وَنَجَّيْنَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ يَتَّقُونَ ﴿18﴾
And We saved those who believed and used to fear Allâh, keep their duty to Him and avoid evil.

وَكَانُوا۟ wakānū and used to
يَتَّقُونَ yattaqūna fear (Allah)

(Ayah 18) {وَ نَجَّيْنَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا …:} This is the wondrous and unique power of Allah that despite such severe punishment, earthquake, terrifying scream, and lightning flashing and striking, not a single hair of any Muslim was harmed; all of them remained safe and sound by the grace of Allah.

And We saved those who believed [22] and were mindful (of Allah).

[22] That is, Sayyiduna Salih ؑ was commanded to migrate before the punishment descended. Thus, by Allah’s command, he migrated with the believers, whose number was about one hundred and twenty, and went towards Palestine, settling near Ramla. It was at this very place that Sayyiduna Salih ؑ passed away.
