Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

In relation to {اُدْخُلُوْۤا اَبْوَابَ جَهَنَّمَ خٰلِدِيْنَ فِيْهَا … : ’’ اُدْخُلُوْۤا ‘‘}, it should have been (the place of entry for the arrogant is evil) as in {’’ فَبِئْسَ مَدْخَلُ الْمُتَكَبِّرِيْنَ‘‘}, but in relation to {’’ خٰلِدِيْنَ فِيْهَا ‘‘}, it is stated as {’’ فَبِئْسَ مَثْوَى الْمُتَكَبِّرِيْنَ ‘‘}, meaning it is an evil place for the arrogant to reside. The word {’’ مَثْوَى الْمُتَكَبِّرِيْنَ ‘‘} also indicates that arrogance is the cause for entering Hell forever, which led them to deny the signs of Allah and to argue about them, and the condemnation of such argumentation is a fundamental theme of this surah.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

8. 1. In that case, on the Day of Resurrection there would have been only one group, that is, the people of faith and the people of Paradise. But Allah's wisdom and will did not like this compulsion; rather, to test human beings, He gave them the freedom of will and choice. Whoever used this freedom correctly became deserving of Allah's mercy, and whoever misused it committed injustice by using the freedom and choice given by Allah in disobedience to Allah Himself. Thus, such wrongdoers will have no helper on the Day of Resurrection.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

76. (Now) Enter the gates of Hell, to abide therein forever. How evil is the abode of the arrogant [97].

[97]
Definition of Arrogance and the Fate of the Arrogant:

From these two verses, two things are understood: first, that the greatest reason for rejecting the truth is arrogance; and second, that the majority of the inhabitants of Hell will be the arrogant. Further details of these matters are also found in the hadiths:
1. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud ؓ says that the Prophet ﷺ said: "He will not enter Paradise who has even a mustard seed's weight of arrogance in his heart." A man said: Every person likes that his clothes are good and his shoes are good. (Is this arrogance?) The Prophet ﷺ said: "Allah is beautiful and loves beauty. Arrogance is to reject the truth and to look down upon people." [مسلم۔ کتاب الایمان۔ باب تحریم الکبر وبیانہ]
2. Harithah bin Wahb Khuzai says that the Prophet ﷺ said: Shall I not inform you about the people of Paradise? They are such weak and unknown people that if they swear by Allah, Allah will fulfill their oath. And shall I not tell you about the people of Hell? Every harsh, ill-mannered, and arrogant person is from the people of Hell. [بخاری۔ کتاب الادب۔ باب الکبر]
3. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud ؓ says that whoever has even a mustard seed's weight of arrogance in his heart will not enter Paradise. [مسلم۔ کتاب الایمان۔ باب تحریم الکبر و بیانہ]
