Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 53) ➊ { وَ لَقَدْ اٰتَيْنَا مُوْسَى الْهُدٰى:} In this verse, the help is mentioned which was referred to in the previous verse {’’ اِنَّا لَنَنْصُرُ رُسُلَنَا ‘‘}. The conjunction with "waaw" refers to what has been mentioned earlier and what is implied here: "We helped Musa and the believers by drowning Pharaoh and his armies and saving them," and indeed We gave Musa guidance. This guidance includes prophethood, miracles, the Torah, and guidance in every difficulty.

{وَ اَوْرَثْنَا بَنِيْۤ اِسْرَآءِيْلَ الْكِتٰبَ:} Prophethood was granted to Musa (peace be upon him), and it is given only to a prophet; however, the heirs of his book and its knowledge are his Ummah, as Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: [ إِنَّ الْعُلَمَاءَ وَرَثَةُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ وَ إِنَّ الْأَنْبِيَاءَ لَمْ يُوَرِّثُوْا دِيْنَارًا وَلَا دِرْهَمًا وَرَّثُوا الْعِلْمَ فَمَنْ أَخَذَهُ أَخَذَ بِحَظٍّ وَافِرٍ ] [ أبوداوٗد، العلم، باب في فضل العلم : ۳۶۴۱ ] "The scholars are the heirs of the prophets, and the prophets did not leave behind dinar or dirham as inheritance; they only left knowledge as inheritance. So whoever acquires it has acquired a great share." Allah Almighty made the Children of Israel the heirs of the book, the Torah, which was given to Musa (peace be upon him); generation after generation, they continued to read, teach, and act upon it.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

53. 1. That is, prophethood and the Torah were granted, as He said (اِنَّآ اَنْزَلْنَا التَّوْرٰىةَ فِيْهَا هُدًى وَّنُوْرٌ) 5. Al-Ma'idah:44)

53. 1. That is, the Torah remained even after Musa (peace be upon him), of which they continued to be heirs generation after generation. Or, by "Book" is meant all those books that were revealed to the prophets of Bani Israel; He made Bani Israel the heirs of all those books.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

53. And We certainly gave Moses guidance [69] and made the Children of Israel inheritors of the Book (the Torah) [70].

[69] That is, Sayyiduna Musa ؑ was sent to a tyrant and oppressive ruler like Pharaoh. At the same time, he was continually guided as to what steps he should take next, until he and his oppressed nation were delivered from Pharaoh’s tyranny and granted success.

The Responsibilities of the Heirs of the Book:

After the drowning of Pharaoh, the Book of Torah that was granted to Musa ؑ contained much material for the people of intellect and understanding to take lessons from, and it also provided guidance for every aspect of life in this world. We made the Children of Israel the heirs of this magnificent Book so that they would rise as the standard-bearers of guidance in the world. In these verses, in fact, both comfort and glad tidings have been given to the Muslims. At that time, Muslims were facing similar circumstances, so Allah Almighty said that He would not leave His Prophet and the Muslims in that state, but would guide them at every step until they achieved success. Then, the Book (the Quran) that is being given to them, Muslims alone will be made its heirs so that they may convey it to every corner of the world and fulfill the duty of guiding all people.
