فَوَقَىٰهُ ٱللَّهُ سَيِّـَٔاتِ مَا مَكَرُوا۟ ۖ وَحَاقَ بِـَٔالِ فِرْعَوْنَ سُوٓءُ ٱلْعَذَابِ ﴿45﴾
So Allâh saved him from the evils that they plotted (against him), while an evil torment encompassed Fir‘aun’s (Pharaoh) people.
فَوَقَىٰهُ fawaqāhu So Allah protected him
ٱللَّهُ l-lahu So Allah protected him
سَيِّـَٔاتِ sayyiāti (from the) evils
مَا that
مَكَرُوا۟ ۖ makarū they plotted
وَحَاقَ waḥāqa and enveloped
بِـَٔالِ biāli (the) people
فِرْعَوْنَ fir'ʿawna (of) Firaun
سُوٓءُ sūu (the) worst
ٱلْعَذَابِ l-ʿadhābi punishment

(Ayah 45) ➊ { فَوَقٰىهُ اللّٰهُ سَيِّاٰتِ مَا مَكَرُوْا:} However enraged Pharaoh may have been at the clear words of advice from that believing man, due to Allah’s protection he could not take any open action against him. Rather, he and his courtiers devised several secret plans against him, but Allah saved him from their evil consequences as well. Allah has not mentioned here how He saved him. Some commentators have stated that he escaped from them and went towards the mountains. Others have said that soon after this incident, when Musa (peace be upon him) left with the Children of Israel, he also crossed the sea with them. We have no definite means of knowing how Allah saved him. Perhaps the wisdom in Allah not mentioning this is that you should entrust your affairs to Allah, and then it is His task how He saves you. His ways of saving are far beyond your imagination.

{وَ حَاقَ بِاٰلِ فِرْعَوْنَ سُوْٓءُ الْعَذَابِ:} That believing man was saved from the evil consequences of the schemes of Pharaoh’s people and succeeded in both this world and the Hereafter, but Pharaoh’s people were surrounded by a double punishment in this world and the Hereafter. In this world, they were drowned in the sea.

45. 1 That is, the Qibt (Copts), his people, had devised all sorts of schemes and conspiracies against this believer because of his declaration of the truth, but all of them were thwarted, and he was granted salvation along with Musa (Moses) ؑ. And in the Hereafter, his abode will be Paradise.

45. 2 That is, in this world they were drowned in the sea, and in the Hereafter, there is the most severe punishment of Hell for them.

So Allah protected him from the evil plots they devised against him [59], and the people of Pharaoh were engulfed by an evil punishment.

[59] It appears that Pharaoh did not want to kill this believing man immediately, but rather wanted to arrest him and subject him to physical torture so that he would divulge all the information Pharaoh needed. What plots these people devised against this believing man is not known in detail. In any case, soon after this incident, Sayyiduna Musa ؑ was commanded to migrate, and this believing man was also among the emigrants. In this way, he was saved from Pharaoh’s schemes. And when Pharaoh and the people of Pharaoh pursued these emigrants, they themselves became ensnared in their own plot.
