(Ayah 39){ يٰقَوْمِاِنَّمَاهٰذِهِالْحَيٰوةُالدُّنْيَامَتَاعٌ … :} The believing man, presenting the evidence for his statement, said that the path I am showing you is in reality the correct path, because the aim and all the efforts of Pharaoh and his companions are only for the world; they have completely closed their eyes to the life of the Hereafter, although the life of this world is a trivial benefit ({مَتَاعٌ} the tanween is for belittlement), which is for a very short period. If it passes in luxury and comfort, there is nothing to be gained, because it is transient, and if it passes in hardship and difficulty, it will still pass. One should be concerned about the life of the Hereafter, which is eternal and everlasting, where one will remain forever. There, this insignificant provision of the world will be of no use; rather, righteous deeds will be of benefit.

39. 1. Whose life is for a few days only. And even that, compared to the Hereafter, is equal to a moment of morning or evening.
39. 2. Which has no decline or end, nor will there be any departure or moving away. Whoever enters Paradise or Hell, both their lives will be everlasting. One is a life of comfort and ease. The other is a life of torment. Neither the people of Paradise nor the people of Hell will experience death.

O my people! The life of this world is only a brief enjoyment, and the home of everlasting stay is indeed the Hereafter [53].
[53] Now that believing man comes forward openly. Pharaoh had said that he was telling them only what he saw as the path of goodness according to his own insight. In response to Pharaoh’s statement, that believing man said that the path of goodness is not what you say—that Moses should be killed—but if you seek the path of goodness, then listen to me. I will show you the path of goodness, and that path is that this world is only for a few days; whether it passes in comfort and ease, it is of no consequence, and if it passes in hardship and difficulty, it will still pass. The real concern should be for the life of the Hereafter, which is eternal and everlasting. This world is only a place of trial. Even in this, Allah Almighty has kept many concessions for His obedient servants. For example, if someone does a bad deed, he will be recompensed only to that extent, but if someone does a good deed, he will be given a much greater reward. Therefore, consider this short life of the world as an opportunity and, by doing as many good deeds as possible, become deserving of a great reward.
