Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 19) {يَعْلَمُ خَآىِٕنَةَ الْاَعْيُنِ … : ’’ خَآىِٕنَةَ ‘‘ ’’خَانَ يَخُوْنُ‘‘} is a verbal noun on the pattern of {’’فَاعِلَةٌ‘‘}, just as {’’عَافِيَةٌ‘‘ } is, and it can also be an active participle. In the case of being an active participle, it was originally {’’اَلْأَعْيُنُ الْخَائِنَةُ‘‘}, then the adjective was annexed to the noun. The meaning would be "deceitful eyes." In the case of being a verbal noun, the meaning is clear, and that is "the deceit of the eyes," meaning Allah will not accept intercession for the disbelievers. If someone, due to some doubt, mistakenly does so, it will not be accepted, because the intercessor will not have full knowledge of his disbelief, whereas Allah will neither permit intercession for such people nor accept it, because He knows not only the apparent deeds of a person but also the hidden matters, among which the deceit of the eyes and the secrets of the hearts are the most concealed things. Allah knows even these, so how can He accept intercession for someone when He knows the disbelief and polytheism in his heart? Among the apparent actions of a person's limbs, the most hidden are the various actions of the eyes. For example, secretly looking at someone whom it is forbidden to look at, or establishing an unlawful relationship through the signal of the eyes, etc., and among the inner faculties are the actions of the heart which a person never expresses, rather he keeps them hidden. Allah has said that He knows the deceit of the eyes and all the hidden actions of the hearts. On the Day of Resurrection, all such deceits and the actions hidden in the hearts will be made manifest, as He said: « يَوْمَ تُبْلَى السَّرَآىِٕرُ » [ الطارق : ۹ ] "The Day when secrets will be examined."

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

1. This contains a statement of Allah Almighty’s perfect knowledge: that He has knowledge of all things, whether small or great, subtle or coarse, of high rank or low rank. Therefore, a person should, considering the extent of His knowledge and encompassing, avoid disobedience to Him and develop true fear of Him within himself. The betrayal of the eyes is when one looks with stealthy glances, such as glancing sideways at a beautiful woman while walking on the road. Among the matters of the hearts are also those whispers that arise in a person’s heart. As long as they remain mere whispers—that is, they come and go like a fleeting moment—they will not be subject to accountability. But when they take the form of firm intentions, then they can be held accountable, even if the person does not get the opportunity to act upon them.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

Allah knows the treachery of the eyes [27] and what the hearts conceal.

Types of Movements of the Eyes:

There are countless movements of the eyes. Most of them are blameworthy and fall under the category of "Kha'inat al-A'yun" (the deceit of the eyes). For example, winking as a form of taunt or sarcasm, then there is the glance of mockery, and there are also silent conversations through the eyes. Sometimes, people secretly look at non-mahram women with lustful intent, hiding it from others. Allah knows all these types of gestures of the eyes, and He is also aware of the thoughts in the hearts that result in such gestures and movements of the eyes.
