They say: "We are obedient," but when they leave you (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), a section of them spend all night in planning other than what you say. But Allâh records their nightly (plots). So turn aside from them (do not punish them), and put your trust in Allâh. And Allâh is Ever All-Sufficient as a Disposer of affairs.

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 81) {وَ يَقُوْلُوْنَ طَاعَةٌ …:} Here, another reprehensible trait of the hypocrites has been mentioned and they have been rebuked, and you (peace be upon him) have been instructed to overlook their evil actions and to put your trust in Allah Almighty. The word {”بَيَّتَ“} is originally derived from { ’’ بَيْتٌ ‘‘ } (house), and since a person generally stays at home at night, { ”بَاتَ“ } means to spend the night, and then, since a person reflects on his affairs during the free time at night, the word { ”بَيَّتَ“ } began to be used in the sense of deep contemplation on a matter. (Razi) That is, during the day they assure you of their obedience, but at night some of their groups consult contrary to what they said to you during the day. By this "taifah" is meant the leaders, because the common people are merely followers of them.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

81. 1. That is, these hypocrites express certain things in your ﷺ gathering, but at night they say the opposite and weave webs of conspiracies. You ﷺ should turn away from them and place your trust in Allah. Their words and conspiracies will not be able to harm you ﷺ in any way, because your protector and supporter is Allah.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

They say, "We will obey," but when they leave you, a group of them spend the night plotting something other than what you say [113]. But Allah records what they plot. So turn away from them and put your trust in Allah. And Allah is sufficient as a Trustee.

[113] That is, the hypocrites profess their obedience to you in your presence and even speak words of goodwill towards you and the Muslims. But their secret consultations are of a completely different nature, and their way of thinking and mindset are entirely different. They think about how they can harm these Muslims so that their strength may be weakened, and how they can get rid of them or expel them from Madinah altogether. For this purpose, they keep consulting and conspiring with the Jews of Madinah. So, pay no attention whatsoever to their vile schemes. Place your trust only in Allah. Allah Himself will deal with them.
