Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

In the above verses, obedience to Allah Almighty and His Messenger has been commanded, and in order to encourage this, it has also been stated that through this obedience, the companionship of the Prophets, the Siddiqeen, the Martyrs, and the Righteous will be attained. Now, in this verse, the command of Jihad has been given, which is the most difficult obedience, and it has been commanded to be fully cautious of the disbelievers and hypocrites. It is stated that, according to the circumstances, choose whichever is better: going out in separate groups or as a united army.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

71. 1 حِذْرَکُمْ (take your precautions) with weapons and equipment of war and other means.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

71. O you who believe! Take your precautions, then either go forth in detachments or go forth all together.

The Condition of the Muslims After the Battle of Uhud and the Commands:

This verse was revealed during the period when the Muslims had once faced defeat in the field of Uhud, and Abu Sufyan, upon his return, had announced his victory in his address. The effect of this was that the courage of the Jews, hypocrites, and the tribes surrounding Madinah increased, and they intensified their efforts in enmity against Islam. Often, such news would come that a certain tribe was preparing for war, or that another tribe was advancing towards Madinah to attack the Muslims. During this period, repeated acts of treachery were committed against the Muslims. Their preachers would be deceitfully invited and then killed, and outside the boundaries of Madinah, the lives and property of Muslims were not safe. A constant state of fear and terror prevailed over Madinah. In these circumstances, Allah Almighty instructed the Muslims, firstly, to always remain cautious and alert, and to keep their weapons with them. Secondly, not to travel alone, but whenever setting out on a journey, to go in groups or all together.
