Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 7) {لِلرِّجَالِنَصِيْبٌ …:} In this verse, a fundamental ruling has been given that in the inheritance left by parents and relatives, whatever its nature may be, just as men have a right, so too do women and small children, even the unborn child, have a right. This is intended to refute the ignorant Arab custom according to which women and children were deprived of the deceased’s estate and property, and only adult sons would take possession of the inheritance. The reason for the revelation of this verse and the specification of the shares for men and women will be mentioned in the following verses. (Ibn Kathir)
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
7. 1. Before Islam, this injustice was also practiced that women and small children were not given a share in inheritance, and only the grown boys who were capable of fighting were considered heirs to all the wealth. In this verse, Allah Almighty has stated that just as men, women and boys and girls will also be entitled to a share in the wealth of their parents and relatives; they will not be deprived. However, it is a separate matter that the share of a girl is half that of a boy (as mentioned three verses later). This is not oppression against women, nor is it their belittlement, rather, this law of inheritance in Islam is in complete accordance with the demands of justice and fairness. Because Islam has exempted women from the responsibility of earning a livelihood and has made the man her provider. In addition, wealth comes to the woman in the form of mahr, which is also paid to her by a man. In this respect, men have many times more financial responsibilities compared to women. Therefore, if the share of a woman were equal to that of a man instead of half, it would be oppression against men. But Allah Almighty has not wronged anyone, because He is also Just and Wise.
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
7. For men there is a share in what the parents and close relatives leave behind, and for women there is also a share in what the parents and close relatives leave behind, whether it is little or much [13]. Each has a fixed share.
[13] The Share of Women and Children in Inheritance:
In Arabia, it was not customary to include women in inheritance; rather, a woman herself was considered part of the inheritance. By means of this verse, Allah Almighty has elevated the status of women from this humiliation and made them entitled to a share in inheritance. Also, the following rulings are derived from this verse: (1) The share of women in inheritance; (2) Whether the inheritance is little or much, whether the property is movable or immovable, in any case, it must be divided; (3) In the presence of close relatives, distant relatives will be deprived; (4) The share of these close relatives is also fixed, the details of which are coming in verse 11 and verse 12 of this Surah; (5) Besides women, young boys were also deprived of inheritance, and only those sons were considered heirs who were capable of fighting enemies and taking revenge. According to this verse, young boys have also been given an equal right, and in reality, these children were the true orphans.
