And when it is said to them: "Come to what Allâh has sent down and to the Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم)," you (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) see the hypocrites turn away from you (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) with aversion.

61. 1. These verses were revealed about those people who, instead of taking their case to the court, wanted to take it to the leaders of the Jews or the leaders of the Quraysh. However, its ruling is general; it includes all those who turn away from the Book and the Sunnah and, leaving both of them, go to someone else for their judgments. Otherwise, the condition of the Muslims is such that (اِنَّمَاكَانَقَوْلَالْمُؤْمِنِيْنَاِذَادُعُوْٓااِلَىاللّٰهِوَرَسُوْلِهٖلِيَحْكُمَبَيْنَهُمْاَنْيَّقُوْلُوْاسَمِعْنَاوَاَطَعْنَا) 24:51 when they are called to Allah and His Messenger ﷺ so that He may judge between them, they say, "We hear and we obey." About such people, Allah Almighty further said (وَاوْلَئِکَھُمُالمُفْلِحُوْنَ) 24:51 these are the ones who are successful.

61. And when it is said to them, "Come to what Allah has revealed and to the Messenger," you see the hypocrites turning away from you in aversion [93].
[93] The Judgment of Sayyiduna Umar Regarding the Hypocrite:
It happened that a Jew and a hypocrite (Muslim) had a dispute over some matter. Since the Jew was in the right, he said to the hypocrite, "Let us have your Messenger decide this matter" (that is, even the Jews believed that this Prophet always sides with the truth). However, the hypocrite began to hesitate. He too feared that the Prophet ﷺ would side with the truth and the judgment would go against him, so he started making excuses and said, "Let us take this case to your chief, Ka'b bin Ashraf," where the hypocrite hoped that through trickery and bribery, the judgment could be in his favor. But the Jew did not agree to this because he too knew the character of his chief, and since the hypocrite could not openly say that he would not go to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, it was finally decided that the judgment would be sought from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. After hearing both parties, the Prophet ﷺ gave the judgment in favor of the Jew. Now the hypocrite said, "Let us now take this case to Sayyiduna Umar ibn Khattab ؓ and get his judgment as well." In those days, Sayyiduna Umar ؓ, with the permission of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and as his deputy, used to decide cases in Madinah. The hypocrite thought that since Sayyiduna Umar ؓ had great Islamic zeal, he would give the judgment in his favor. Thus, both the Jew and the hypocrite went to Sayyiduna Umar ؓ and sought his judgment in this case. Then each gave his statement. After giving his statement, the Jew also said, "We took this case to your Prophet, and he gave the judgment in my favor." As soon as Sayyiduna Umar ؓ heard this, he went inside, brought out his sword, and immediately beheaded the hypocrite, saying, "For the one who does not accept the judgment of the Prophet ﷺ, this is my judgment."
