The Women · Medinan · Juz 6 · Page 105

So, as for those who believed (in the Oneness of Allâh - Islâmic Monotheism) and did deeds of righteousness, He will give them their (due) rewards - and more out of His Bounty. But as for those who refused His worship and were proud, He will punish them with a painful torment. And they will not find for themselves besides Allâh any protector or helper.
فَأَمَّا fa-ammā Then as for
ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna those who
ءَامَنُوا۟ āmanū believed

أُجُورَهُمْ ujūrahum their reward
وَيَزِيدُهُم wayazīduhum and give them more
مِّن min from

وَأَمَّا wa-ammā And as for
ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna those who
ٱسْتَنكَفُوا۟ is'tankafū disdained
وَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ wa-is'takbarū and were arrogant
فَيُعَذِّبُهُمْ fayuʿadhibuhum then He will punish them
عَذَابًا ʿadhāban (with) a punishment
أَلِيمًۭا alīman painful
وَلَا walā and not
يَجِدُونَ yajidūna will they find
لَهُم lahum for themselves

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. 173. 1 Some have taken this (more) to mean that Allah will grant the right of intercession to the believers; after receiving this permission for intercession, they will intercede for those about whom Allah wills.

173. 2 That is, they refrained from the worship and obedience of Allah and continued to deny and show arrogance.

173. 3 Just as it is stated in another place: "Indeed, those who show arrogance (denial and pride) from My worship will surely enter Hell, humiliated and disgraced."

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. 173. Then those who believed and did righteous deeds—He will give them their full rewards and even more out of His bounty. But those who were too proud and arrogant [230]—He will punish them with a painful punishment, and they will not find for themselves any protector or helper besides Allah.

The Consequence of Arrogance:

Arrogance and greatness are attributes befitting only Allah Almighty. If any of the creation shows arrogance before Allah, he will surely enter Hell. In the era of Adam ؑ, Iblis was the first to show arrogance, and thus he was cast out from the Divine Presence. People do not like anyone who possesses pride and haughtiness. Allah disgraces such a person in this world as well as in the Hereafter, breaking his arrogance and admitting him into Hell. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said that Paradise and Hell once argued before the Lord. Paradise said, "O Lord! My condition is such that only those people are entering me who were weak and humble in the world." And Hell said, "Those who are arrogant are entering me." Allah said to Paradise, "You are My mercy," and to Hell, "You are My punishment."
[بخاری، کتاب التوحید، باب ماجاء فی قول اللہ إن رحمۃ اللہ قریب من المحسنین]
And once the Prophet ﷺ said, "Shall I not tell you who are the people of Paradise and who are the people of Hell? Every weak and humble person is a person of Paradise; if he swears an oath relying on Allah, Allah fulfills it for him. And every fat, harsh, and arrogant person is a person of Hell."
[بخاری۔ کتاب الایمان، باب قول اللہ تعالیٰ واقسموا باللہ جہد ایمانہم]
