Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 162) ➊ Those who are firmly grounded in knowledge are those who seek the revelation coming from Allah and derive evidence and guidance from it, neither blindly following traditions nor imitating their forefathers, and by {”الْمُؤْمِنُوْنَ“} is meant those who have true faith in the Torah, that is, these believers believe in what has been revealed to you and what was revealed before you. This is glad tidings for the believers among the People of the Book who, after Musa (Moses) (peace be upon him), also believed in the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), such as Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) and others.
{وَ الْمُقِيْمِيْنَ الصَّلٰوةَ:} All the preceding and following attributes are in the nominative case, and this one is in the accusative; it is called "accusative for praise" or "for specification." As if this is the object of {’’اَخُصُّ‘‘ }, that is why it has been translated as "and especially those who establish prayer."

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

162. 1. By these are meant Abdullah bin Salam and others who became Muslim from among the Jews.
162. 2. By these are also meant those believers who became Muslim from among the People of the Book, or it refers to the Muhajirun and Ansar. That is, those who possess firm knowledge of the Shariah and are characterized by perfect faith, they refrain from committing those sins which Allah dislikes.
162. 3. This refers to zakah of wealth, or zakah of the soul, meaning purification and refinement of one's morals and character, or both are intended.
162. 4. That is, they firmly believe that there is no deity except Allah. They also believe in resurrection after death and in reward and punishment for deeds.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

162. But among them, those who are firmly grounded in knowledge and the believers, they believe in what has been revealed to you [213] and what was revealed before you. They establish prayer, give zakat, and believe in Allah and the Last Day [215]. To such people, We will grant a great reward.

[213] Those who are firm in knowledge are those who seek revelation sent down from Allah and derive their evidence and guidance from there. They are not blind followers of tradition, nor are they bound by the imitation of their forefathers, nor by such customs and practices that, having found their way into the religion, have become a part of it, such as innovations, etc. Such were Abdullah ؓ bin Salam and his companions.

[214]
Those Who Receive Double Reward:

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever among the People of the Book (whether he is a Jew or a Christian) accepts Islam, he will receive a double reward: one reward for believing in his own prophet and the second for believing in Muhammad ﷺ."
[بخاری، کتاب الجہاد، باب فضل من اسلم من اہل الکتابین]

[215] At this verse, the response to the demand of the Jews comes to an end, which they had made to you that if the Quran were to be sent down to you all at once from the sky, as the tablets of the Torah were sent down to our master Musa ؑ, only then would we believe in you. In between, after mentioning the state of the Jews' faith in the Torah, their misdeeds, and their breaking of covenants, it is stated that the task of the people of knowledge is to have complete faith in the Book of Allah and then to fully adhere to its commands. They do not resort to excuses, objections, demands, or stubborn arguments. Such people are the ones who deserve a great reward.
