Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 150) ➊{ اِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ يَكْفُرُوْنَ بِاللّٰهِ وَ رُسُلِهٖ :} After mentioning the vile deeds and words of the hypocrites, from here begins the discussion of the thoughts and doubts of the People of the Book (Jews and Christians) and their refutation, and this continues until the end of the surah. (Razi) To believe in Allah and not to accept prophethood and messengership is disbelief. (Qurtubi) Because believing in Allah means obeying the command of the Prophet of the time; without this, belief in Allah is incorrect. (Muwaddih) Also, denying Allah's commands is to deny being His servant, and denial of servitude (worship) means denial of the Creator of the universe.

{وَ يُرِيْدُوْنَ اَنْ يُّفَرِّقُوْا بَيْنَ اللّٰهِ وَ رُسُلِهٖ …… :} The People of the Book are meant here, and the following sentences are explanations of their characteristics. (Qurtubi, Razi) The Jews believed in Musa (Moses) عليه السلام but denied Isa (Jesus) عليه السلام and Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, and the Christians accepted Musa and Isa عليهما السلام but denied Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم. (Ibn Kathir)

{وَ يُرِيْدُوْنَ اَنْ يَّتَّخِذُوْا بَيْنَ ذٰلِكَ سَبِيْلًا :} That is, to believe in all is faith, and to deny even one is disbelief, whereas these people want to adopt a third way by believing in some and denying others, and they call it Judaism or Christianity, just as in our times, materialists have combined prayer in mosques, usury in markets, imitation of non-Muslims in grief, happiness, and daily life, and disbelief-based laws in courts and government departments, and have named all this Islam. And some have said that they will accept the Quran but not the sayings of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم. These deniers of hadith are also included among such people.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

The exegesis of this verse has been done along with the previous verse.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

150. Those who deny Allah and His messengers and seek to make a distinction between Allah and His messengers, and say, “We believe in some and disbelieve in others,” and wish to adopt a way in between [199]—

The Meaning of Making Distinction Between Allah and His Messengers:

Those who deny Allah and His messengers refer to atheists, materialists, or naturalists, and there are some people who believe in the existence of Allah or the Creator of the universe but do not believe in the messengers. This is the group of some philosophers and scientists, because according to their view, the existence of the universe without a Creator and the presence of such a coherent and organized system in it is logically impossible. And the third group is the one that believes in Allah and some of His messengers but does not believe in others. For example, the Jews did not believe in Sayyiduna ‘Isa (Jesus) ؑ nor in some other prophets, nor in the Last Prophet. And the Christians believe in the rest of the prophets but do not believe in the Last Prophet, even though glad tidings of every coming prophet were present in their books. And those who adopt the third way refer to this third group or the People of the Book. Their faith was that they claimed to believe in Allah and the prophet of their time and to have faith in him. And their disbelief was that they denied the covenant their prophet took from them to obey the coming prophet or the glad tidings present in their books. In this respect, neither did they truly believe in Allah, nor in their own prophet, nor in their own book.
