Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 134) That is, whoever’s only aim and objective is this world, he should remember that with Allah is the reward of both this world and the Hereafter, so why are you sitting seeking only what is perishable? Why not seek both this world and the Hereafter? If you act upon Allah’s commands, then the world will be yours and the Hereafter as well. Seeking only the world is nothing but loss upon loss. As for whether your action is for the world or for the Hereafter, Allah hears and sees it well. (See __XREF_11__: 15, 16; __XREF_2__: 200–202; __XREF_17__: 18–21)

134. 1. For example, if a person performs jihad solely for the acquisition of war booty, how foolish this is. When Allah Almighty is capable of granting the reward of both this world and the Hereafter, then why should only one thing be sought from Him? Why should a person not be a seeker of both?

134. Whoever desires the reward of this world, then with Allah is the reward of this world and the Hereafter [177], and Allah is All-Hearing, All-Seeing.
[177] Why Seek Both the World and the Hereafter?
That is, everything is present with Allah. Now, it depends on each person’s own capacity. If he only desires worldly benefits and becomes engrossed in the world, he will obtain the benefits of this world. And whoever desires the good of the Hereafter as well, he will certainly receive reward and recompense in the Hereafter. In addition, whatever worldly benefits are destined for him, he will also receive them. Therefore, the task of a wise and capable person is to focus all his attention on the reward and recompense of the Hereafter.
