(Ayah 108) {يَسْتَخْفُوْنَ مِنَ النَّاسِ … :} That is, the condition of these people is that they hide from people when committing sins, but they do not hide from Allah, Who is with them even when they are plotting inappropriate deeds in the darkness of night. He encompasses everything; where can they escape from Him? For the meaning of Allah being with them, see Surah Hadid (4) and Surah Mujadila (7).

108. They can hide (their deeds) from people, but they cannot hide from Allah. And He is with them when they plot by night about matters that do not please Him. And Allah encompasses all that they do.

[147] The thief of the coat of mail was in reality not a true Muslim, but a hypocrite, and his family members were also not people of firm faith. When this case reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, the subject of their consultations was how the thief could be saved from the crime of theft and how the blame could be placed on the Jew. In reality, holding such consultations at night and thinking that in this way their crime would remain hidden is itself proof of the weakness of their faith, and how can any matter be hidden from Allah?
