Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 68) {وَ نُفِخَ فِي الصُّوْرِ … :} For its detailed exegesis, see the exegesis of Surah An-Naml, Ayah (87).

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

6 8. 1. According to some, after the Nafkhah Faza’, this is the second blowing, i.e., Nafkhah Sa’q, by which everyone will die. Some have described the sequence of these blowings as follows: the first is Nafkhat al-Fana’, the second is Nafkhat al-Ba’th, the third is Nafkhat al-Sa’q, and the fourth is Nafkhat al-Qiyam li Rabb al-‘Alamin. (Aysar al-Tafasir) According to some, there are only two blowings: Nafkhah al-Mawt and Nafkhah al-Ba’th, and according to some, there are three. And Allah knows best.

68. 2. That is, those whom Allah wills will not die, such as Jibril, Mika’il, and Israfil. Some say Ridwan, the angel, the bearers of the Throne (Hamalat al-‘Arsh), and the keepers appointed over Paradise and Hell. Fath al-Qadir

68. 3. According to those who believe in four blowings, this is the fourth; according to those who believe in three, this is the third; and according to those who believe in two, this is the second blowing. In any case, with this blowing, all will come to life and be present in the field of resurrection before the Lord of the worlds, where the reckoning will take place.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

And the Trumpet will be blown, and whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth will fall unconscious, except whom [85] Allah wills. Then it will be blown again, and at once they will be standing, looking on [86].

[85]
Who Will Be Exempted from the Unconsciousness of the Blowing of the Trumpet?

From this, it is understood that there will also be some creatures who will not become unconscious. Some have interpreted this exception as referring to the four great angels, namely Jibreel, Mikaeel, Israfeel, and Azraeel. Some have also included the bearers of the Throne among them, and some have included the prophets, the righteous, and the martyrs as well. However, from the hadith mentioned in the next footnote, it is understood that none of mankind will be saved from this unconsciousness. When even the Messenger of Allah ﷺ will become unconscious, how can others remain exempt? However, Musa (peace be upon him) was exempted by the Prophet ﷺ. That too, in the sense that perhaps he will regain consciousness before me, or he will not become unconscious at all. This is because he has already become unconscious once in this world.
[86] From this verse, it is clearly understood that the Trumpet will be blown twice. The following ahadith present the explanation of this verse:

The Blowing of the Trumpet: Twice or Thrice:

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet ﷺ said: There will be an interval of forty between the two blowings of the Trumpet. The people asked: "Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), is it forty days?" He replied: "I cannot say." Then the people asked: "Is it forty years?" He replied: "I cannot say." Then the people asked: "Is it forty months?" He replied: "I cannot say." And the Prophet ﷺ said: The entire body of man will decay (in the earth) except for the end of the backbone (which is as small as a mustard seed). From this, all of creation will be composed and raised up. [بخاري۔ كتاب التفسير]
2. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Upon the second blowing of the Trumpet, I will be the first to raise my head and I will see Musa (peace be upon him) holding onto the Throne, hanging. Now, I do not know whether he will not become unconscious at the first blowing of the Trumpet, or whether he will regain consciousness before me at the second blowing (because he had already become unconscious once in the world)." However, in Surah An-Naml, verse 87, another blowing is also mentioned, upon hearing which all the creatures of the heavens and the earth will be struck with terror. Some ahadith also support this. Therefore, some scholars say that the Trumpet will be blown three times. At the first blowing, only panic will occur; at the second blowing, people will fall unconscious and die; and at the third blowing, all humans will be resurrected and will come out of their graves and proceed and stand before their Lord.
