Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 55) ➊ {وَاتَّبِعُوْۤااَحْسَنَمَاۤاُنْزِلَاِلَيْكُمْ … :} Here, the annexation of {’’ اَحْسَنَ ‘‘} to {’’ مَاۤاُنْزِلَاِلَيْكُمْ ‘‘} is an explanatory annexation, meaning: follow the revelation sent down by Allah, the Qur’an and Hadith, all of which are the best and superior to every other speech. He said: «اَللّٰهُنَزَّلَاَحْسَنَالْحَدِيْثِكِتٰبًامُّتَشَابِهًامَّثَانِيَ »[ الزمر : ۲۳ ] “Allah has sent down the best statement, a Book consistent within itself.” For further details, see the commentary of Surah Az-Zumar, verses (17, 18).
➋ { مِنْقَبْلِاَنْيَّاْتِيَكُمُالْعَذَابُبَغْتَةً :} The warning of a sudden punishment is given because, in that case, there will be no opportunity to recover or to repent. Therefore, hasten to follow the commands of Allah before His seizure comes upon you suddenly, while you are unaware, because repentance made after the punishment arrives will not be accepted. See also Surah An-Nisa (18), Yunus (51 and 90, 91), and Surah Al-Mu’min (84, 85).
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
55. 1. That is, make arrangements for repentance and righteous deeds before the punishment comes, because when the punishment comes, there will not even be knowledge or awareness of it; by this is meant worldly punishment.
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
And follow the best [73] of what has been revealed to you from your Lord before the punishment comes upon you suddenly while you are unaware.
[73] What is Meant by Following the Best?
This verse can have two meanings. One is that the entire Noble Quran is the best of speech, so one should comply with its commands, avoid its prohibitions, and take lesson and admonition from whatever Allah Almighty has stated in its parables and stories. On the contrary, a person who neither complies with the commands, nor avoids the prohibitions, nor accepts any effect from the admonitions, such a person adopts the aspect which the Book of Allah declares to be the worst aspect. The second meaning is that one should fulfill its commands in the best possible manner, completely avoid its prohibitions, and even leave that which is doubtful, and take from the admonition and advice that which is required by a sound heart. One should not try to extract one's own ideologies and desires from the Quran.
