Verily, We have sent down to you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) the Book (this Qur’ân) for mankind in truth. So whosoever accepts the guidance, it is only for his ownself, and whosoever goes astray, he goes astray only for his (own) loss. And you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) are not a Wakîl (trustee or disposer of affairs, or guardian) over them.

(Ayah 41) {اِنَّاۤاَنْزَلْنَاعَلَيْكَالْكِتٰبَ … :} The insistence of the disbelievers on their disbelief caused the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) great sorrow. Allah Almighty consoled him that We have revealed this Book to you with the truth. Now, whoever follows the right path, its benefit is for himself, and whoever goes astray, its burden is upon him. You are not responsible for this; your duty is only to convey the message of truth, which you have fulfilled. Leave the matter to Allah, in Whose hand is everything: causing death, giving life, causing sleep, and awakening.

41. 1. The Prophet found the persistence of the people of Makkah on disbelief very distressing; in this, you are being comforted that your duty is only to convey this Book which We have revealed to you, you are not responsible for their guidance. If they adopt the path of guidance, it will benefit them, and if they do not, they will suffer the loss themselves. The meaning of "wakeel" is responsible and accountable, i.e., you ﷺ are not responsible for their guidance. In the next verse, Allah Almighty mentions one of His absolute powers and wondrous creations, which man observes every day, and that is when he sleeps, his soul, by Allah's command, as if departs, because his faculties of sensation and perception cease, and when he wakes up, the soul is as if sent back into him, restoring his senses. However, the one whose days of life are complete, his soul does not return, and he meets death. Some commentators have described this as major death and minor death.

Indeed, We have sent down to you this Book with the truth for all people [57]. So whoever is guided, it is for his own benefit, and whoever goes astray, the burden of his straying is only upon himself. And you are not responsible for them.
[57] That is, our task was to send down a book for the guidance of people, a book based on solid truths, so that the proof would be established against the people. So, such a book We have revealed to you, and your duty is only to convey Allah’s message to the people, and you have conveyed that message. It is not your responsibility to forcibly convince people of these truths. From here on, everyone should consider their own benefit: if he accepts the advice, it is for his own good, and if he becomes arrogant and turns to opposition, he will bear the consequences himself.
