إِنَّآ أَخْلَصْنَـٰهُم بِخَالِصَةٍ ذِكْرَى ٱلدَّارِ ﴿46﴾
Verily, We did choose them by granting them (a good thing, - i.e.) the remembrance of the Home [in the Hereafter and they used to make the people remember it, and also they used to invite the people to obey Allâh and to do good deeds for the Hereafter].
إِنَّآ innā Indeed, We
أَخْلَصْنَـٰهُم akhlaṣnāhum [We] chose them
بِخَالِصَةٍۢ bikhāliṣatin for an exclusive (quality)
ذِكْرَى dhik'rā remembrance
ٱلدَّارِ l-dāri (of) the Home

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 46) {اِنَّاۤ اَخْلَصْنٰهُمْ بِخَالِصَةٍ ذِكْرَى الدَّارِ :} The special quality found in these prophets was first kept ambiguous by saying, “We chose them with a special attribute,” so that eagerness and curiosity would arise as to what that special attribute is. Then it was explained that this attribute is the remembrance of the original home. The original home refers to the Hereafter, because the world is not a home but a passage. The special characteristic of these prophets was that they always remembered the Hereafter and kept it in view in every matter; there was not the slightest trace of worldly greed in them, and they always reminded people of the Hereafter as well.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

46. 1. That is, We had chosen them for the remembrance of the Hereafter, so the Hereafter was always before them (The constant presence of the Hereafter in one's mind is also a great blessing from Allah and the foundation of asceticism and piety) or they strove to call people towards the Hereafter and towards Allah.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

46. We chose them for a special quality: remembrance of the Home of the Hereafter [53].

[53] That is, remembering the Hereafter is the very elixir that makes a person one of Allah’s chosen ones. These chosen personalities regarded this world as nothing more than a travelers’ inn, and the home of the Hereafter was always their true objective.
