Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 177) {فَاِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ … :} That is, this punishment will surely come upon them in any case. Then, when it descended into their courtyards, those who were being warned of the punishment and were denying it—their morning will be evil. The word "morning" is mentioned specifically because the Arabs generally attacked in the morning, and this was also the practice of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Thus, Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: : ۲۹۴۵ ] "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set out towards Khaybar and reached there at night, and when he reached a people at night, he would not attack until morning. When morning came, the Jews came out with their spades and baskets. When they saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), they said: 'Muhammad, by Allah! Muhammad has come with his army.' So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Allahu Akbar! Khaybar is destroyed. When we descend into the courtyard of a people, the morning of those who have already been warned is evil.'" Punishment from Allah also generally came in the morning, as mentioned regarding the people of Lot: « اِنَّ مَوْعِدَهُمُ الصُّبْحُ اَلَيْسَ الصُّبْحُ بِقَرِيْبٍ » [ ھود : ۸۱ ] "Indeed, the appointed time for them is the morning. Is the morning not near?"

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

177. 1. When the Muslims went to attack Khaybar, the Jews became anxious upon seeing them, at which the Prophet ﷺ also said Allahu Akbar and said (خَربَتْ خیبرُ ، اِنَّا اِذَا نَزَلْنَا بِسَاحَۃِ فَوْمِ فَسَاءَ صَبَاحْ الْمُنْذَرِیْنَ) (Sahih Bukhari)

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

177. When the punishment descends upon their courtyards, then that morning will be most terrible [97] for those who were warned.

The Punishments That Continued to Befall the Disbelievers of Makkah:

The punishment for which the disbelievers of Makkah were hastening will certainly come, but it will come at its appointed time. And it will come in such a way that they will not even know from which direction their roots are being cut off. Thus, on the occasion of the Battle of Badr, except for Abu Jahl, most of the chiefs thought that since our trade caravan has safely passed, we should not fight now. But Abu Jahl alone insisted that since we have come out to the battlefield, we must crush Islam. However, this very insistence became the cause of his own death and the breaking of the back of disbelief. A similar situation occurred at the time of the Battle of Ahzab, and the conquest of Makkah was in reality the death of disbelief. After that, the declaration of Bara’ah removed whatever was left. So many times, punishment befell these people during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and as they continued to be confronted with punishment, the talk of hastening the punishment gradually disappeared from their minds. After witnessing the first punishment, they never again asked for punishment. Then, after the life of the Prophet ﷺ, Allah Almighty granted even more victory and help to His true religion. And this victory was both political and of Islamic values.
