Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

144. 1. That is, if he had not done repentance, seeking forgiveness, and glorifying Allah, (as he said, (And [mention] David and Solomon, when they judged concerning the field when the sheep of a people overran it at night, and We were witness to their judgment.) [21:78]), then he would have remained in the belly of the fish until the Day of Resurrection.

Coming Out from the Belly of the Fish:

Allah Almighty accepted his repentance and seeking of forgiveness, and commanded the fish to throw him out onto the shore. Thus, just as the fish had swallowed him, it expelled him safe and sound near a barren plain. At that time, he was extremely weak and frail. His skin had also become very soft and delicate. At that moment, his condition was just like that of a child after coming out from its mother’s womb.
