وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِم مُّصْبِحِينَ ﴿137﴾
Verily, you pass by them in the morning
وَإِنَّكُمْ wa-innakum And indeed, you

عَلَيْهِم ʿalayhim by them
مُّصْبِحِينَ muṣ'biḥīna (in the) morning

137. And surely, you pass by their ruined [79] dwellings morning and night.

[79] This region was located on the highway through which the trade caravans of the disbelievers of Makkah would pass when traveling from Makkah to Syria and on their return from Syria. The historical circumstances of this ruined area were also known. At times, they would even see it themselves. But they never bothered to reflect on why this area was destroyed, and that if they too remained disobedient and rebellious to Allah, the divine punishment could also descend upon them.
